I am starting to get a little worried though, how long til they turn it on? They have only really played maybe 2 full great effort games all year. This is game 16. Getting close to the half way point. Every team faces injuries, not an excuse. Maybe like the Kings last year, just got to find a way to sneak into the playoffs.

Unfair is what is happening to the Senators players - how can you lose so much talent all at once. That being said, no clue why the Rangers look so bad - must be a hangover from all the rough games they had to gut out last year. Lots of extra miles on those Rangers after last season...

They had enough time off, it's the organization, they get good enough to make us and the media think they're contenders then they choke and fail, loyal fanbase and a continual disappointment.

Sidenote: When was the last odd-man rush/breakaway for us?

Seems like last year we sprung Gabby on a bunch of breakaways, or 2 on 1s.

1. Forwards are too deep and 2. The D can't break out of a cardboard box.

They have looked really good for 2 or 3 game stretches. Nothing sustained for longer than that.

We are staying afloat, if/when we get that long period of consistency, we will be in good shape.

Yeah, sounds right.

We need forwards to fly the zone, and we need smoother zone exits. I am not saying we do this all the time and kill the system, but certainly when we aren't getting any chances like tonight.

Maybe part of the problem is there is no freedom out there. One mistake and Torts pins them to the bench for the rest of the game. The players seem to focused on defense and being cautious, don't want to make a mistake. Need to see some more of that creativity. There is a lot of skill on this team.

This is really hard to watch, This team cant do anything on offense.

Edit: a full intermission to figure out this power play, you think we can get some productivity

Sorry if this sounds like trolling but it's not meant to be but it seems like the Rangers are falling all over the place. I remember the playoffs last year the Rangers seemed so tough and hard to play against. Tonight they just seem so easy to knock off the puck...

They've outchanced Ottawa tonight but it makes no difference because with all the talen they come up small, Richards, Gabby, Callahan, Boyle and the list goes on, no one is a difference maker.

Too much play behind the opponent's net leading to bad angle shots, turnovers, oddman rush the other way.

I know Torts likes zone time and puck possession. It has benefits, but it does not work if we become one-dimensional.

It makes the team sluggish, a lot of gliding through the neutral zone, dump and chase, etc. Need to try to make a play from the center of the ice.

I agree with you, the legs aren't going tonight. Not a lot of chances either way. Its just a slow and sluggish game, I don't think either team looks particularly good or fast or exciting. (With the exception of Silfurberg sp?)

At least twice in the last 3 minutes of the period this crossed my mind in regards to Del Zotto. First time we dump the puck in, and you can see his natural inclination is to pinch and join in as the 2nd Ranger involved. Instead he holds up and the puck squirts out to right where he would've been, but instead an Ottawa player had gotten back into the zone. 2nd time I was ok with, cuz Callahan would've beaten him to it anyway by about a step.

Just as TPC said, they look afraid to take chances to make a play for fear of ending up in Torts' dog house.
