Hey, I am not a Lindy apologist!
Sooner or later we are all going to realize that whomever the hell you put behind that bench, it does not matter much!
This team has no TALENT!!!!

- Sabresfan88

It's not that it doesn't have any talent, it's just that there's a huge drop off between the guys that have a lot of talent, and the rest of the the team.

I'm perfectly ok with this team finishing the season in the exact same place they are right now. Dead last in the the division.

There's too much that needs to be done and to expect anyone to come in and make big changes right away is just unrealistic.

I've been saying that I think they should sell the big pieces they have (Vanek, Pommer, Miller) and go into full rebuild mode.

I guess my expectations for what was going to happen after the coach got fired were different. That being said, it was still something that needed to happen.

- HonkFortheGoose

agreed. i wouldn't get rid of those three though. i think you can go into full rebuild mode and hang onto those pieces, at least for the time being. we're dead last with them, i'd worry about digging too big of a hole if we were to ship all of them out.

And here is my big question to you:
Do you really believe that freaking Darcy can put a Stanley Cup winning team on the ice in Buffalo??
I HIGHLY DOUBT IT!

So that is worth 40 million?

Is Vanek worth 60? Or should I say has he been the last 5 years?

I'm perfectly ok with it also, I welcome it. But in no way do I want Regier making the decisions after the season. So now we have to live through re-build mode with Regier? Where does this end?
- buffalokb

Ends with him leaving and bringing in a real hockey man.

To hire the new coach
Trade Miller or Pominville (look what he got for Hasek and Peca)
Draft

We know who is responsible for all of these contracts - why is he still employed?

Those are the only 3 on the team that are going to get you the return you would need to rebuild. They all have 1 year left on their contracts. There's no guarantee they will resign here. The team is in a state of total chaos right now. If there was a good time to move them, it would be now.

He won't be for long IMO, and I hope he goes out in a blaze of glory, but seriously Myers is getting better. Not good enough but better

5 on 3. I expect the other team to score. Im more upset at the lazy penalties that gave them a 5 on 3.

i respectfully disagree. vanek has talent. hodge looks like he could become something good, but right now he isn't all there. pominville has talent, but isn't overflowing with it.

ennis/foligno both have potential but right now are far from A+ talent.

erhoff is good enough, and i think myers will grow into something great, but his current problems are obvious.

miller is talented.

that's about all the talent i see on the team. in a few years if a couple key pieces grow into their potential, then we'd have talent. right now we have vanek and miller, and to a lesser extent pominville.

Probably not.

I'd be fine with him being let go after the season as well. Doesn't make much sense to fire the GM mid season though. I know Columbus did it, but how often does that really ever happen and work out well?

Need s a second line thats scores consistantly and take the pressure off the first line. I dont think were that far off but it might cost more money then they have to spend.

You would not be firing Darcy to win a cup this year - you would be firing him so he could not inflict any new damage to this team...

That alone should terrify us.

However, those situations were a bit different. They both asked for trades. It's different than just actively shopping guys. Once everyone knows a guy demanded a trade, it changes things.

if you dont plan on resigning any of them, or they are all going to cost a pretty penny, i agree. however if you let all of them go you better be looking at a HUGE and partially guaranteed return, otherwise we'll be sitting on the bottom of the pile for 4-5 years.

We have some. Who would you list as talented? I'd probably say Vanek, and Ennis are extremely talented, Pommer and Hodgson are slightly above average, and Foligno and Ott are average. Everyone else is probably below average from a talent stand point. Kaleta brings things to the table but he's not a very talented hockey player. Gerbe is too small otherwise he'd probably be in the average to slightly above average range. Just my opinion on it.

Edit: Myers and Hoff on D also. Although the spotty defensive play tarnishes their talent a lot of the time.

Very good point. Although his drafting and trades have been better, we need someone to come in with some balls and shake poop up

Ruff needed to go... But so does Darcy! I don't know if it happens often where they fire HC and GM mid season, but I gotta think that Darcy will be fired when the season ends.

Remember Darcy put together this crappy roster

Penguins have Neal, Crosby and Malkin as talented forwards.

Cooke, Kunitz, Dupius, Kennedy... those guys are" talented"? No. It helps they are playing with talent, but they have pretty quality hockey IQ. Probably comes with playing with Malkin and Crosby.

Vanek is talented, but I would not say he has a high hockey IQ. Hodgson is talented and hes honestly one of the dumbest players on our team. He constantly makes plays that leave you shaking your head of introducing your palm to your face.
