Idk... Goose got us a 1st rounder! Pommer has a lot of value to any playoff contending team. I think even what I said is to little TBH. - Smittyx36
Depends on what teams are looking for as to what guys will get you. The only way to know for sure is to wait til closer to the deadline. |

whats a playoff contending team going to get rid of?
getting a first rounder and a role player for pominville doesnt do us a lot of good, especially if the first rounder comes from a contender.
i wouldn't be totally opposed to getting rid of pominville, or anyone really, but the return has to be good. blowing it up just to blow it up doesnt do you any good unless its the return is going to payoff eventually.
i'd rather hold onto the talented core, even if they do come with a losing mentality, than trade them for anything less than guarantees. |

Pominville would fetch a lot.
I think the Sabres would be crazy to trade him. - Aetherial
I'd prefer to keep him, shop Vanek first, Miller 2nd. Build yourself a nice foundation. |

Agreed, need to act now with any of the top players. To get a bidding war (like what 's going on with O'Reilly) |

Darcy intends to sign Miller, Vanek & Pommer. (If he's still here, that is) |

He's got value. And if you don't get full value, you're still going to get a nice return. If they are going to commit to rebuild mode, then he could go as easy as anyone... and he's one of my favorite players.
But I don't think they are going to tank and/or trade for the future. I think they are going to try to make this season work, again. |

That would be the way I'd do it too. I think Pommer is the guy that would want to stay anyway. I think he'd be a good piece to have during a rebuild. |

First off there is no guaranteeing that the team getting pominville makes the playoffs, 2nd we could get someone they just drafted 1-2 years ago in the 1st round, plus we could also get a decent roster guy. |

Multiple first round picks sounds OK to me. Look what options Columbus has with 3. They'll fack it up though |

I like the chemistry that Vanek, Pommer and Hodge have though. So if I can still accomplish a rebuild but keep them, I'd be ok with it for the most part.
I just think that in order to do a the rebuild they need to, Vanek could get a really good return and Pommer a fairly solid one. - HonkFortheGoose
I think we are back to square one and still looking for 2 complete lines once again with a bunch of unknowns. Either Pommer or Vanek would fetch a good return tho.I think most teams know the kind of heat Pommer can bring and they all know Vanek in front of the net.I wouldnt part with Hodgson for anything.Hes a legit number one center IMO.He would have to be part of a rebuild. |

The best bet when targeting a playoff team is to look at their top prospects. Guys that are ready to make the jump. Make the team younger and load up with talent. |

I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt with their new GM. He's got a pretty good track record with drafting. |

I disagree. If you can bring in the right couple guys they can help raise the game of everyone else. They can step their game up when it counts, and that can be contageous.
The problem is those 1-2 trades are next to impossible to make and guys like that don't get traded very often. |

When are dead last in the league and the deadline comes along I can't see darcy passing on "blowing it up" so to speak.
Then once the season ends he gets fired and we get a new GM who comes in and drafts the new guys and evaluates the current squad. |
