I disagree. If you can bring in the right couple guys they can help raise the game of everyone else. They can step their game up when it counts, and that can be contageous.
The problem is those 1-2 trades are next to impossible to make and guys like that don't get traded very often. - keptupl8
You gotta give to get. That's why I cant see 2 trades making this team a contender.
It takes trades, draft picks, and F/A to get there. |

Multiple first round picks sounds OK to me. Look what options Columbus has with 3. They'll fack it up though - keptupl8
Put flyers out on Miller and Pommer. 1st rd pick and a prospects for either. See if anyone bites. |

The best bet when targeting a playoff team is to look at their top prospects. Guys that are ready to make the jump. Make the team younger and load up with talent. - HonkFortheGoose
if theres that kind of deal to be had than i'm all for it. i'd just worry about losing our only batch of talented veterans for players that may or may not end up working out.
obviously you have to take risks, which is why i'm not an nhl GM. |

At this point, it's the complete opposite way of thinking than we've seen. I'd be totally OK with it. |

Not 2 trades, but 2 trades, good drafting, 2 years of patience and THEN a couple tweaks in free agency. |

Their defense is more of the problem. Dubnyk faces a ton a shots every night. |

2005-2006 Buffalo In the ECF, Edmonton in the SCF, since 07, 1 team has built a foundation for years to come, the other refused to admit they needed a rebuild and a new coach. Who do you think is in a better position |
|
|
|
That would be the way I'd do it too. I think Pommer is the guy that would want to stay anyway. I think he'd be a good piece to have during a rebuild. - HonkFortheGoose
I don't. A player like a Drury/O'Reilly/Peca is the type of player I think you want in a rebuild. Strong leader and two way talented player with some grit. Pominville is too passive and has been the face of the Darcy type player that hasn't done squat for the team. When the new generation of "talent" took over after Drury and Briere left, this team has done absolutely nothing. But that is just my opinion. |

How would you like to see the rest of the season pan out:
1. Let the season go and take the high pick
or
2. Turn it around and squeak into the playoffs - HonkFortheGoose
This is tough, because there's nothing like playoff hockey and the Kings proved last season you just have to get hot at the right time. But considering the chances we can do that are slim to none, I'd rather be a big time seller at the deadline, draft in the top 5 and come back next season strong. |

He just can't catch a break. Poor guy had a puck take a funny bounce from behind him and it rolled down his back into the net a week or two ago. |

Agreed. Pommer isn't the leader we need here. He is very valuable but he sure isn't as valuable as Drury or even Peca was.
Therefore we need to get Drury/Peca v2 ROR . Seriously thats what you build around! |

It seems like it should be an easy question, but it pulls you in like 50 different directions.
Maybe I should just switch completely to the dark side and be a Blackhawks fan. |
