Trade Myers before it's too late. - Powerslave
+3 in last 5 games when the team went 1-4, with a goal and assist. He's been far from the problem recently, it's the other guys like Weber and Sulzer who don't belong in the NHL |

their depth at goalie actually looks VERY strong. the problem is that its all VERY young. So there needs to be a gap between miller and the next guy - but it will be hard to find a gap filler as good as biron |

true.. I highly doubt miller will not be a sabre after next year.. ive seen stranger things happen though |

i've come to the decision that i believe pominville OR vanek should be traded. Preferably pominville, since Vanek wont be getting a raise and pomm probably would.
Theres no point in resigning both of them for 6m+ since it didnt work with them as your top 2 forwards before, so why would it work again.
feels like ive been saying this for the last 10 years, but the future looks pretty bright. if they manage to pull it off and actually finish in the bottom 3 draft picks, it looks like a no-miss scenario with Jones, MacKinnon and Drouin.
then you have in a couple years hodgson, ennis, grigorenko, whoever we draft there, girgensons, armia, myers, pysyk, mcnabb, foligno, mccabe, tropp
the only problem is IF miller doesnt resign we are doomed at goalie. although that seems like its easy to pick up a random veteran who can perform.
eddit on top of this: ennis seems out of place. personally i think hes better right now than hodgson, but hodgson has bigger upside. trade one of those 2 for for oreilly and i think you have a very good balanced foundation of grit, skill, and size in the 20-24year old range. - robz228
I dont understand how anyone can think Hodgson has more upside than Ennis.
Ennis can play well no matter who his wingers are. Hodgson wouldnt produce if he wasnt playing with Vanek and Pominville. And his defense is nothing to be desired. Have a big feeling hes going to get a monster contract that he wont ever live up to, and since Ennis was only signed 2 years, hes going to be the piece that moves on and we will regret it big time.

agreed, i should have clarified. we have nothing to fill the immediate need assuming miller is either traded or doesnt resign. |

....That backhand pass/giveaway from behind the net directly in front of Miller was a beauty wasn't it?!? |

Hodgson was producing with Foligno and Mancari in the AHL. I realize the talent level is lower, but so were the guys he was playing with.
That being said, Hodgson and Ennis are very different players and I think both will be good in their own right. |

We really could use a star prospect between the pipes though. I am intrigued by Makarov and Ullmark however. |

Why is it ok for Mike Weber to do it, or for Ehrhoff to make bad pinches, or Sulzer to look like a HS defenseman on a 2 on 1, yet Myers makes 1 bad play the entire night and he needs to be traded?? |

Brennan is actually a +2 in the last two games.
He had 17 mins against Winnipeg but only 11 tonight. |

aka ennis is better right now. i would be fine if they traded hodgson instead of ennis but it feels like they are the same player. one should be traded.
but it think its harder to justify trading hodgson since you gave kassian up for him. |

He sucked tonight but he also needs to be with someone who doesn't turn the puck over like Weber does in his own end |

I could see it coming from a mile away, we have seen this from him for 3 years, that's why he started as the 7th guy in the box this year. Pardy is a much better player IMO |

no, never said hes been good, but thats irellevant.
if you are trading hodsgon or ennis its because they are both soft, skilled centerman and you'd ideally want someone tough and decently skilled
aka kassian. |

i guess the silver lining to our horrendous defense this year is that organizationally it's one of our deepest positions. hopefully if the youngsters pan out as they should, we could potentially be all set in the next few years |
