I would trade for a guy like Stempniak who is an expiring contract solely because he is a solid 3rd line guy who can score... Stafford needs to be replaced quickly though.... I am still holding out hope that it could be Chris Stewart or of like skill.

Rentals make no sense for this team, this season, unless it's to dump a contract (Stafford)

I would trade for a guy like Stempniak who is an expiring contract solely because he is a solid 3rd line guy who can score... Stafford needs to be replaced quickly though.... I am still holding out hope that it could be Chris Stewart or of like skill.

yup.. my exact thought...

that whole new deal where a team can assume a certain percentage of a players salary will make the trade market interesting I think... make deals harder to agree to and also facilitate more deals that wouldn't have worked in the past..

It would just add to his track record that he is very very streaky. Maybe other teams haven't caught on and we can trade him when he is netting 1-2 goals a game for a month.
