Before the injuries piled up, he was a good young goalie, with a ton of promise. The myriad injuries have robbed him of his lateral movement, quickness and basically left him a shell of his former self.
- Jsaquella

He's still a reasonably young guy at 31.

I'm not saying he would be all-world, but 31 is pretty young to just get written off (not saying you, personally, were writing him off).

He's home in Colorado. Never said he's retiring, just wanted to take a year off.
- Jsaquella

I knew he wasn't retiring. Just wondering if he was doing some spiritual thing or living amongst wolves or something.

No, they could have used it on him. They wanted the cap hit to dump salaries fro draft picks.

There's a few speculating that Tim Thomas might be returning. I doubt that, but who knows?

- Jsaquella

They probably just want him off the team because he's been horrible.

With the new rules, they get to keep most of his cap hit while he's in the AHL, keeping them above the cap floor.

He just doesn't have the physical ability to be a NHL goalie anymore. He's supposedly as healthy as he's been in years and he just can't move as quickly as he needs to to be effective

He's probably building something. Like a barn. Seems like that kind of guy that would build a barn.

Injuries have limited him to 50 games in the last five years (counting this season).
26 of those games were in the 10-11 season.

He's done.

Apropos of nothing, a few weeks ago I was tuned into WIP during Rob Charry's segment and a caller asked why Flyers games were no longer broadcast on that station. I have no idea if the caller was being coy or completely earnest, but Charry took it as an affront and said something to the effect of, "do you really want to go down that road?" and basically implied that the caller should beat it.

I don't know the whole story of why the Flyers switched stations, but I found that particular exchange bizarre and overly heated, suggesting some sort of latent animosity.

St. John's School showed us the weirdest movies at the end of each year:

The Hobbit cartoon
Rustlers Rhapsody
Ice Pirates
Tron
And some dinosaur movie with William Katt rescuing the last brontosaurus

I hope this explains my condition.

You could've stopped at St John's School. I went to Holy Saviour. Catholic school turned me into an unbalanced, slightly insane atheist

That interview was just to get him to say something that can be built into something it really isn't.
- Jsaquella

I agree. Actually, Barkann frequently cites players' salaries as though it ought to make them impervious to injuries, fatigue or the occasional short slump.

Would rather add a puck mover like Streit or something as well as a good faceoff guy.

They bumped the Flyers playoff games last year to 610AM in favor of the Phillies Preseason games and Snider blew a fuse. They were contractually obligated to put the Phils on FM. That's why when the 76ers and Flyers conflict they move the Flyers, who signed on after the Sixers to 93.3 and not their AM channel.

Streit is a good player, but I wouldn't sign him to a long term deal using Cap space saved from buying out Briere.

Catholic school turned me into an unbalanced, slightly insane born-again Christian. We have so much in common!
