I would ride out this season, if it doesn't come together, fire him and start fresh next season with a new coach and a better shaped team.

Would rather win next year than this year anyways

- Rags2Riches

I agree. No use trying to clean house in a short season. They have to be smart on the trade front too.

I find it funny that Torts has earned no political capital with the fan base. The lesson I take from that is if you are going to act like an ahole you better be damn well sure you remain a successful ahole, because people won't put up with your act if you're not.

I say this as a Ranger fan 100%; we collectively do not have any patience whatsoever. We demand instant gratification much like children do. We can be in the midst of a great season but still find fault with the coaches and the players when things aren't going perfectly. I guarantee that same thing will happen if and when this team ever wins another Cup.

The only two guys that have both are Weber and Chara. Girardi and Mcdonagh are both injured and now you wanna trade Staal, our best defensmen at the moment who isn't hurt but that has the flu? Does this make sense to anybody else?
- tomburton99

Well if they are out long term season over anyway. And if they aren't then why not have more balnce. I loved Jan Erixon when he played didn't mean I wanted every forawar to play like him.

My head hurts I'm gonna hit the rack. Maybe I'll give Torts a stay of execution in the morning. Goodnight, Boys. Let's go Rangers. I still love these guys.

Thats a good question. I guess I should have an answer for this. I dont. I'll research and see who is available. I dont think a no experience coach would work, though.

MacTavish
Maybe Carbonneau but I'd have to think there is a better option.

I know, Keenan is available and he is already there. Bring on Leetch as an assistant to run the PP and get Mess down on the bench too. A 1994 reunion.

I like Staal a lot I was just saying McDonough, Girardi and Staal all similar. Would like one of top three to have offensive game and or mean streak preferably both.
- Chris Erwin

You do have a point there though I think both mcD and Staal
Seem to enjoy throwing people to the ice, which is a good thing.
I guess with 3 guys who are real rocks on D you should be able
To build a winner; bringing in a Buff type may feel like a good idea when he rips a few PP goals in but would jeopardize the D - which is really the foundation
Of the team. Ideally your 4th D is a really great puck mover with
A mean streak...Dare I say Denis Potvin? Ha

Not that I would want to trade Staal but he is talking about trading
Him For another D so it's not increasing the D shortage, just a swap

Also don't think they did much before that one season either. It's hard for me to guess because he's been out of the game (NHL anyway) for a while and I don't know what style he'd bring. He's also never had a roster with this much veteran talent on it either when he was in Edmonton. Just not sure he's a good fit.

Right, so you add what to the already depleted D core? Makes no sense.

Would like the d to not be so one dimensional. Three shutdown dmen when you have trouble scoring, team has no snarl and has a world class goalie seems like a little overkill. Especially when offense/pp has been horrid for extended time.

Agreed. I said it yeaterday, cant trade any D right now. Tonight basicly locked that up. No MDZ, no G, no McD... Its not logical.

Well if Girardi and McDonough out long term season over anyway so it won't matter. And if they're not just want the defense to be meaner with a hard shot and I think that player does that. Mcd, G, Staal all above average players with McD having the highest ceiling. But is anyone really afraid when they blast shot from the point? Or do players think twice before jabbing at puck after whistle?

Exactly, it sucks to see them play this poorly but this year will end mercifully and we can look forward to next season.

Coach should stay, but I am solvent in the fact they need to make a roster move or two.

Right now, I think nothing should be done. Panic moves are the worst kind. Let the season ride out until deadline time and then, if still applicable, make a move for future success(trade Gaborik for first round pick and a top prospect)

Tough break tonight, this team really has to pull together. This is just my opinion but they look nothing like the team from last year that made them so tough to play against. Hopefully if it is a concussion for McDonagh its not too severe. Unfortunately Girardi's injury looked pretty bad though. I know Rupp didn't work out here but to me this team needs some more toughness. How no one went after Pacioretty was infuriating, the guy just mashed one of your best dmans head into the glass and nothing. Then Moen bumps into Biron's head, while I dont think it was anything dirty or on purpose, you're down 3-0, who cares at that point, drop the gloves and show a little fight or something to build on for the next game. No, Boyle, grabs Moen's arm and is talking with him. Just ughhhhh..... Gonna be tough with all these injuries but still keeping the faith this team can get back to what it was and play with some toughness and hard work. Let's hope for some good news on the injury front.

Guy Carbonneau would turn you guys into a champion... Just sayin...

I would normally say this sucks for you guys to lose two against a weak Habs team, but they are surprising me.
