Reported Streit is looking for 3years 10M deal. 3.33M per isn't that much for a responsible puck moving Dman. Age is the obvious concern at 35. I think he still has a good 3 years in him and he logs crazy minutes around 25Min/game. At that cap hit I would really be tempted to grab him unless the Isles asking price is ridiculous.

I must say I crushed these guys earlier but its great to see them make strides. Like I said.....we leave this honestand at 500 and we've punched our playoff ticket. |

Streit is a great PP quarterback. Better than what you have on the roster currently. |

You wouldn't take Streit at 3.3M?
Care to clarify why not?
Philly is in desperate need of a puck moving D since Carle left and Kimmo has a mediocre point shot for a PP quarterback. He is half the price of Kimmo if the reprort is accurate(3.3M vs 6M). No productive offensive defenseman is available right now for a reasonnable cost. Any young stud is gonna cost you Couturier or B. Schenn or both plus the huge cap hit that comes with it (JBo 6.7M). If a pick + prospect can get it done since he's a UFA why not. He eats almost 26min a game so he can take some of the load off Kimmo and others and help manage the minutes so everyone isn't burned out come playoff time. With Kimmo gone after next year, we have no puck moving defenseman that can pass or quarterback the PP. We would have 3 very good pairings:
Kimmo - Schenn
Streit - Mez
Grossmann - Coburn
or
Streit - Coburn
Kimmo - Schenn
Grossmann - Mez |

Not for a 3 year over 35 contract, if that is what he wants, let the Rangers give it to him. |

The guy missed 8 games in the last 3 seasons he played in.....238 GP on 246.
He is cheaper then Kimmo, Coburn, Schenn, Mez and Grossmann at that price lol

For 3.3 million?
I would be willing.
To be honest I could see it happening too. I am sure Holmgren will look around for d-men but if he cannot find one via a trade then simply drafting one and improving the back end with Streit could be a good option.

To me it just comes down to options. If the Flyers cannot find a decent trade for a young d-man with star potential then they will have to build through the draft.
That will take time, and Streit provides a good stop-gap. Someone younger would obviously be better but you have to make the best of what is out there or roll out with the same d-core as this season. I am not in favour of that. |

Who do you trade for a young star/stud offensive defenseman; B. Schenn, Couturier, Simmonds, Voracek.... I don't think so.... Even Read is so freaking valuable and has a low cap hit.
Briere and Hartnell and all our Dman have NMC's.

As of right now the only guy I would really do it for would be OEL or a player of that caliber.
In other words, I dont see that kind of trade happening as I once did. I would trade anyone on this team if it makes the team better in the long term.
On a side note, I think Briere gets bought out in the summer, but you just know if the team makes the playoffs that little freak will go on a tear. |

For anyone that watched the game, I saw that Rinaldo had 12 hits. (according to TSN)
How did he play otherwise? |

I wont deny that I am.
If they stick with him, and give him a real chance for a few seasons I think we will have a great 4th liner for years to come.
Berube has worked with him on controlling his emotions, and the guy has the heart of a lion. I'd like to see the team experiment with putting him on the PK next season and seeing if he can handle the responsability.
Dont know why, but I see a bit of Lappy in the kid. Give him time to grow and leave him in the lineup. |

I'd probably be OK with him getting substantially more than $1 million, but a 3 year deal for a guy over 35 is too risky. 2 Years at $2.75 million per. GID Holmer. |

Philly won't get a young stud D-man unless Homer is willing to break up the young nucleus of talent on this team. Not going to happen I think. Other tradable players on this team have NMC's. Drafting a D-man is much harder than selecting a forward. Really difficult to predict/measure potential for defenseman and the development process is much longer. Hence why PHI always draft forwards.
Was hoping for another crazy offer sheet by Homer for Subban but it didn't happen.
