If an opportunity ever came up that would be good for him, his family, AND the Flyers, a trade might be possible.

His willingness to leave his family behind to play in Berlin also suggests to me that family isn't the automatic deal-breaker that it's been made out to be.

Yeah, that's true. He signed a deal to stay there the entire year if the lockout didn't end.

Starting them is just looking for energy to start the game. Something the Flyers have been lacking. If you read my previous posts, I stated that the Coach played who was bringing it all game, and cut the ice time of those who were not, in the 3rd period. It's not customary for Rinaldo to play in that situation. That's the Coach sending a message.

Going by the shift-reports, Rinaldo played on that line throughout the entire game at ES, and as I mentioned before, Rinaldo was so effective that there was no reason to sub him out in the last minute.

Lavi was already locked into "earn your next shift" mode from the previous game, hence Rinaldo getting promoted before the drop of the puck against WPG, and guys like Danny B and Knuble getting bumped down.

The Bruins are a very good team already. Adding Briere gives them another weapon.

Chiarelli's looking for his next Recchi, I'm sure.

Nice coaching job by Lavi. Start holding players accountable.

After this year, Briere's contract has 2 years left. One year his salary is $3mm, the next $2mm. His buyout would cost the team buying him out $833,333 in each of the next 4 years.

Also the Flyers can trade some of the money to Boston to offset costs.

Laviolette has started the 4th line a bunch of times previously. It's not common for Rinaldo to be out in that situation. I think we're in agreement. The Coach rewarded who played well and took ice time away from who didn't.

I'm still not sure I buy the rumor anyhow. It makes sense on some levels, but I think Boston has enough Briere types. Need a winger more than another centerman

I don't see why Briere couldn't play Wing in Boston. A move like this can be a key move, if they get good value. The problem is that you can't put Briere out there on the open market to have teams bid against each other. With the NMC

The last thing I am going to throw out there regarding trades is Montreal.

They wanted Briere when he chose Philly originally and I could see them wanting him at the deadline. They would obviously have to clear some space, and I dont really like anything they have to offer in terms of players already signed.

I'll take Eller for Briere.

Just think there's got to be other options for them out there, rather than shifting Briere who has been up and down, and has a bigger cap hit

Ek is throwing around the idea that Dallas will be willing to deal Robidas this season.

35 and signed for one more year but cheap 3.3 million cap hit.

The price would scare me though.

Will Couturier end up with a career closer to Jordan Staal or Martin Hanzal???

How is Hanzal coming into the comparisons?

tall, rangy center comfortable in scoring or shutdown role...physical, tough to play against. not a big scorer, doesn't have Couts' hands...has a high of 16 goals.

I think Couturier is a better all around player already then Hanzal. I don't see Hanzal as a Selke level defender.

Hanzal is more physical, which is a function of his natural growth and i think he could def be a selke candidate.

IIRC, mathers is the guy we drafted instead of hyka, thinking we could sign the latter

Future Selke candidates normally spend a lot more time on the PK then Hanzal does.

that's fine. my original question was where Couts' career was headed. you obvi think it's closer to staal.
