Good win, but still too many defensive breakdowns. If this team wants to win a championship they need to play better in there own zone. Momentum shifts are gonna happen and I think we all understand that bad periods/games will happen on occasion. However, even in wins there are way to many defensive breakdowns. Bryz has saved us from many of these breakdowns, but he cant save everything. |

Just a quick note. Grossmann has 7 hits but it wasn't a game high. Rinaldo had 12 hits. - MJL

here's just a morsel:
This game is proving that Torts system has run its course. They are brutal with no end in sight. McD gets rocked by Max patches and nobody sticks up for him? WTF is that. Time to fire Torts!!!!!!

the issue with the Rangers is cultural. They are always in a position in which they have to legitimize themselves. Since they only have one cup since 1940, they have established a losing culture which in turn creates a psychological barrier the players constantly have to overcome. The pressure imposed by the media and the fans is directly related to the desire to legitimize the team and quell the hatred that runs rampant throughout the league. It's quite sad but we couldn't have known when we became Rangers fans. We are the team that nobody wants to win and everyone laughs at. -nomad91

From the Offensive circles to the net, the Flyers can be at times a very good team. From that area all the way back to their net, as a team, their play is most often a mess.

Luke Schenn hit him every chance he had..
I remember a rumor after Homer pulled off the Carter trade to Columbus.
It said that Homer offered Carter to Winnipeg for Evander Kane and their first draft pick and was turned down. - Marc D
Apparently, Carter and Richards were being offered around the league. At the time, the Winnipeg paper reported that the deal fro Richards to be a Jet was Evander Kane, Alexander Burmistrov and the Jets 1st rounder.
At the time, that would have been the deal I'd have favored over getting Simmonds & Schenn...now, though, I'm very happy with what they got.
Kane's exquisitely skilled and Burmistrov has tons of potential, but Kane's got a lot of growing up to do and Burmistrov seems to be the kind of guy that wants to do it all himself. |

We've seen the same exact things-or close to it-said on our boards.
It's got to be hard. They were anointed as Stanley Cup favorites and they have struggled. They could turn out to be the 2010 Flyers. They could also be a lottery team. |

I think schenn is going to be a real powerhouse. Simmonds has to be a top 15 forward in the league already. However anyone felt about Richards they have to agree good trade all around prolly for both sides. |

Hartnell - Giroux - Voracek
Briere - Schenn - Simmonds
Read - Couturier - ________
Knuble - Talbot - Fedotenko
Timonen - Schenn
Coburn - Grossman
Meszaros - _______
Looking forward... I love our top 6 forwards. They have great chemistry on those two lines and they all have really started to perform. Couturier needs to fall back in to his role of last year as a shut down 3rd line defensive center. Put Read on his wing when he returns and acquire a reliable defensive minded forward to play on his wing and the offense is in really good shape headed down the stretch. I actually like our top 4 d-men a lot as well. Obviously you can't have too many good dmen. They need to acquire one, just get the best guy they can pull off.
I like this team moving forward this season!
Who are some potential wingers and dmen who could be available at the TDL? - Flyers2821

Goes over the possibility of buying out Brad Richards and complains that rules were put in place to specifically hurt the Rangers.
Under different circumstances, if the cap were not decreasing, if there were no cap-recapture, if they hadn’t been forced to buy out Wade Redden because of a retroactive clause meant to punish the Rangers

Ah, OK.
I thought it was Carter for Kane and the first.
Interesting.
I like Kane a lot, feisty player.
But maybe immature like you said.
I'd love him on the Flyers though.

Interesting to say the least,
Simmonds, Schenn, 2nd rd pick used to acquire Grossmann
Vs
E. Kane, Burmistrov, 7th overall pick (possibly D. Hamilton)

Couturier. Had the Isles been intelligent and not taken a one way player in Strome, and taken Couturier, then Hamilton was a no brainer. |

The whole thing is too funny, but this is something I found interesting:
"So the Sharks, who have 13 players under contract for a combined $53.7 million cap hit next season, honestly expect a premium in return for Dan Boyle, the defenseman who has two years remaining at $6.67 million per and all but certainly will become an amnesty buyout over the summer?
Perhaps general manager Doug Wilson can fill me in on the joke"

They don't need a winger, they need at 4th line center who can kill penalties and more importantly, WIN FACEOFFS! Having to play Giroux over 26mins yesterday, because he is the only guy who can win a faceoff is ridiculous. Get a center and move Talbot to wing on your depth chart.
Re the D: I was very impressed with Gustafsson yesterday, if he keeps playing at this level, just pair him with Mezaros and I think the D will be ok.
