I think with G, Couts, Schenn, and maybe Laughton as the centers the Flyers are in good shape at center. Briere at wing, or even Schenn at wing is not optimal.
In goal it's Bryz and that's it.
So I think there is a better argument for the buyout in Danny's case.
Getting rid of Bryz unless they bring in another goalie makes no sense. - Marc D
we have 2 yrs to use the buyouts, so we have time |

Grossmann was worth the pick in that trade. The guy is a monster and steady all season long. - stveshdy
cost a 2nd and a 3rd...worth it for sure |

Are you thinking they try to get a different #1 goalie and then buy out Bryz?
Seems pretty far fetched but so did trading #17 and #18. |

so would anybody trade the schenn bros for bogo and kane? would WPG need more coming back? - isaiah520
Personally I would rather keep the Schenn's than make that trade. |

If the Flyers are interested in Perry (depending if Anaheim doesn't re-sign him) than I would take the risk and buyout Briere. |

I hope they leave Schenn at center... He is so much more effective there (look at his points as of late) - Richieattack18
He's been playing wing the last few games. |

I think schenn is going to be a real powerhouse. Simmonds has to be a top 15 forward in the league already. However anyone felt about Richards they have to agree good trade all around prolly for both sides. - JoeRussomanno
I think that's a little overzealous calling Simmonds a top 15 forward in the League.

bryz has been more consistent this yr of course, but he is not out of the woods ( ) as far as a buyout is concerned. i don't see that happening this off season though, unless he implodes. i def think briere is a possibility. it would seem to make more sense to keep schenn at center and grab a $3-4MM scoring winger going forward. |

I think Winnipeg would need more, and I'm not sure I'd be good with that. As a player, Kane is dynamic and fantastic. But he's got real maturity issues.
The flip side is, Bogosian has more upside than Luke Schenn. I just wouldn't be overjoyed at adding a lot to that package. I still think they can find a defenseman without dealing Schenn or Couturier. |

He has, but his production has been coming from both spots.
I prefer him at center, but he could end up playing wing. |

What do you think the cost would be to land Ryan Whitney in a trade? The Oilers have no intention of bringing him back. He has injury issues and really hasn't been worth the price. He even has been a healthy scratch at times this year. I wouldn't go crazy but he's an interesting name to possible add at the deadline. |

i think both WPG plyrs have higher upsides, but it's closer than many might think. i'd add a 2nd or a guy like manning or noebels. |

Nothing much. I think that there's little point in adding him because his cap hit pushes them further into the LTIR exemption and he's not much of an improvement on what's on hand at this point of his career. When he has played, it hasn't been pretty. |

I completely see the argument on Danny, but I think the veteran leadership, and swagger intangibles he brings make it hard to axe him. Although the kids have last year's playoff experience behind them, I don't see them being ready just yet to take over. I see it as similar to 06/07 with Carter and Richie.. |

he's like a shot fighter it seems. used to have elite offensive potential, but injuries and time spent in EDM have eroded him. |

I think kane and B. Schenn is a coin flip. Bogo has a higher ceiling than Luke, though, because he's got the offensive ability. It's not as wide a gap as some would have people believe, but it exists. |

How many leaders does a team need? I'd rather have the money spent in the up and coming rather than those in decline. If there was more than one dimension to his game fine, but it won't be the end of the world to lose him. |

kane seems like a threat every time he's out there...sometimes to his own team
if he puts it together...perennial all star. |

If they retain Briere, they have $2.25mm in cap room and need to fill 3 forward, 1 defense and 1 goalie slots. |
