So, I just stopped at my local Wawa and I'm next in line with my Mt Dew and pepperoni/provolone bagel melt, and Coatesy turns around from the newspaper shelf and plops his paper and food receipt down on the counter in front of me, the buttinski. I asked him if he was in a hurry to get to the game, but he was too spaced out to get the point. Probably saving his energy to look over Giroux's shoulder tonight.
I think it was Brian Propp that said, that he was the best teammate and would do anything to win. You can say a lot about him, but his desire to win was beyond reproach. He certainly never mailed it in.

Self absorbed and entitled. He's the anti Bernie Parent.

He looked at me first; probably saw my Flyers cap and figured I'd bow to him and plead him to go ahead of me (I would have told him to go ahead anyway).
It's cool, he's always good for some quick chatter about the team.

What you were buying was completely irrelevant to the story, but definitely made it more fascinating. Thank you for sharing.

the most suprising part of the story is that Coastsie reads the newspaper
ginger's one of the best rock guys in his day, but joe morello met him and told me he didn't really have that much technique...esp compared to this guy
Trevor Daley's the better fit, IMO, even though the length of his contract is kind of obscene. - Tomahawk
Given the choice, I'd rather have Robidas than Daley. Daley can really, really skate but Robidas is the type of D-man who calms things down out there for Dallas. If Daley were a Flyer, I'd guarantee he'd become the most criticized D-man on the team ("can't get a shot on net," "too many turnovers", "is alergic to hitting") although he's actually a pretty good puck-moving D man and not a bad defender the majority of the time.
I consider Robidas to be a lesser version of Timonen. He's no four-time All-Star like Timonen and not quite as good defensively but still brings a lot of good things to his team. He's small but fearless about taking a hit to make a play.
However, as I wrote earlier, I don't think Robidas will get dealt this season. Next year in final season of his contract, quite possibly.
Once Meszaros gets back, I actually kind of like all 6 of our D.

and Gervais is a great swing guy. - flyler
I was saying that earlier. Roll with that d healthy and we're not too bad IMO. I'd like to limit Timo's minutes a bit and when mesz is healthy and can take on more. Add a guy at the deadline if it can be done for an AHLer or a 3rd or lower pick. Bring Gervais in when needed in the 6 role. I should be a (frank)ing GM.
