Something to keep an eye on for sure.
Every goaltender will have a bad stretch, but that kind of goal makes you cringe.
He needs to be consistent. - flyer_nutter
He's been consistent for the most part. His save % and GAA aren't even close to League average, but a good amount of the goals he's allowed he's had little or no chance.
More recently, the soft goals have been increasing. |

Soft goals are starting to creep back. Simply can't allow that kind of goal. - PLindbergh31
Well, if he didn't hug the post (like he normally doesn't), that's not a goal.
The poor bastard can't win for losing.

He's been better this year but I dunno if I can handle 7 more years of this. |

I dont even want to go into a topic of Bryzgalov going back to inconsistent hockey.
Horrific idea. |

Flyers making scrivens look vezina worthy - Philly1980
Ya know.. the thing is, he doesn't at all.. Rebound central.. but the Flyers are settling for outside shots and not going to the net at all.. |

Yeah, I was looking over Kessel's shoulder on the replay, and he put it right inside the far post..

Good technique and positioning, and that is a routine save. |

I dont care if you have a lighting bolt coming out of Zeus's ass right there.
If he is in position he saves that goal.

Very true.
This is the way the Flyers have played for most of the year. I expect next period to be all Flyers. |

Under the current criteria, he most certainly is.
What I am saying is that if I ran the circus, he wouldn't be.
My problem with the HHOF is that it rewards longevity above sheer talent.
Like Gartner. Like McDonald.
Two more examples: does Cujo belong in the HHOF? Many think he does: top 5 in wins. But imho, he's a tier below. He was great, but he never was the best in the game
And one more example: Lindros.
There are many who think he shouldn't get the call - he was injured too much, his career was too short.
Too me, it's simple: for a period of time, he was the most complete player in the game. He could hurt you - literally and figuratively.
Can you possibly tell me you'd take Mullen or Gartner over Lindros? - Atomic Wedgie
Under any criteria Mike Gartner is in the Hall of Fame. Gartner isn't being rewarded for just longevity. He is one of 6 players in the history of the game to score 700 goals. That is epic! Who I would choose as a better player out of any of those 3 is irrelevant to whether or not Gartner belongs in the Hall of Fame |

Also, what are the other options? Don't really want to start back at square one in net again. |

He has been a top goaltender for much of the season.
He is starting to go into a bad stretch here.
The amount of big saves has been decreasing, and the goals that are save-able are going on. It goes back to the simply fact that for his salary he has to be a top guy. Not just someone who doesnt let in the weak poop.
I look forward to him bouncing back. He isnt the only one who had a bad period, the majority of the forwards werent skating and being put to sleep. |

The problem is, it was kind of lazy technique. If he's got the paddle down, it's stopped.
Kessel made a heck of a shot, but it's a stop you need the goalie to make. |

That knee down technique is what is taught now, and I dont think its solid at all. Same technique as Leighton used its passive and it sucks |

Agreed. Wonder if fatigue is an issue. The Flyers poor start has taken away any margin of error they have. Laviolette simply doesn't trust the backups. |

That's a bad goal, no doubt. But he was pretty damn good against Winnipeg.
