Barkann really annoys the hell out of me.

I'm a huge Flyers fan and I'll cop to them being dirty.

Won't I won't accept is someone saying they were unskilled or because they won the league was less skilled than the years prior and the saintly Habs saved hockey. That's complete and utter BS.

So glad I backread. Loving your posts from this afternoon.

I guess some folks forget the "Big Bad Bruins" that predated the "Broad Street Bullies?" Unreal.

I would say I agree with you in principle. But then insert one caveat, 708 goals is 708 goals. No matter how long you played that is pretty damn impressive.
- MBFlyerfan

Let me put it another way, and I'll use Lindros in a shameless attempt to win over the home crowd.

Did you ever feel the electricity in the air outside the arena because Gartner was in town?

Did scalpers ever love the fact Gartner was visiting?

Did Gartner ever terrify you?

Did you ever go watch Gartner, and although he played for the other team, you were really excited to see him dominate the game?

Did you ever trade three guys with ratings in the 70s for Gartner, and then when you brother complained, you replied, "hey, if it's in the game, it's in the game?"

Did you ever go to your home arena, and there was a sea of fans wearing the visiting team's Gartner jerseys?

Do you still see Gartner jerseys today?

For me, the answer to all the above is no.

And yes for Lindros.

Toc should KO him and just do the show alone.

That knee down technique is what is taught now, and I dont think its solid at all. Same technique as Leighton used its passive and it sucks
- Hextall271

Come out a little and take away the angle. He's deep in the net, which is the only reason Kessel even has something to shoot at.

Zero. I don't think the goalie is the only issue all those years.

Also, what are the other options? Don't really want to start back at square one in net again.
- PLindbergh31

I have no idea.

I am just saying this hypothetically. However if Bryzgalov starts playing inconsistent hockey again, you cant commit to that cap hit long term.

I had the same thought process before the season started. We will see if its just a bad stretch. I hope so.

The problem is, it was kind of lazy technique. If he's got the paddle down, it's stopped.

Kessel made a heck of a shot, but it's a stop you need the goalie to make.

- Jsaquella

'Paddle down' seems to be optional leaguewide these days. I noticed that watching highlight shows the other night, but it's been going on for quite a while.

But of course he is! Until the Flyers find the goalie that will have a 0.00 GAA and 1.000 Save Percentage, they will never be good enough for the fickle Philly fans.

Al Morganti said a couple days ago that Boston would be interested in Briere. Peter Chiarelli had met with Holmgren during one of the games last week. Doug Armstrong, GM of the Blues, has been to see two straight Flyers games, and 3 in the past week of so

I would pay big bucks to see Toc pummel Barkan and Timmy. They should work that into the Carnival somehow...

Anything low on the ice Bryz struggles to stop.

It feels like last year all over again. Bobrovsky has a similar if not better GAA and SV% than Bryz except this year Bob is playing on a much worse team than the Flyers.

I agree with that 100%. The level of play has to warrant the cap hit. If he's going to give you league average or below, you can find a guy who is a lot cheaper to provide it. I'm giving him this year, and all of next year before I would make that decision.

Emery did it the other night - on a play eerily reminiscent of a goal he allowed here in Philly. I asked UG about it and he said something to the effect of, "Who tries to save a goal by genuflecting? Five-hole, dur!"

Agreed. Wonder if fatigue is an issue. The Flyers poor start has taken away any margin of error they have. Laviolette simply doesn't trust the backups.
- PLindbergh31

Unfortunately after last season I dont think management will care.

I really dont want to get into this too much, there is still the rest of the season to evaluate him.

The team needs to wake up, the Leafs are putting them to sleep and they are buying it.

As I said I pretty much agree with you. Its just that in my mind 708 goals is just too much. To AVG 32 goals over 22 seasons is incredible. There are plenty of other players I would agree with you on however.
