Why not? He has 5 years left until his yearly salary drops to $2.25m and then to $1.25m. That's not untradeable so if he can play well for 4-5 more seasons than there's no issue. - NickTheKid87
Possible? Yes. Likely? Hell no.
Would I be willing to chance these next 8 years on him? No thanks. |

You might not even get a chance to offer them a deal either. - JoeRussomanno
Very possible. |

There's the issue that if he retires he will still count against the cap because of the Luongo rule. |

Bobrovsky is a talented kid, and had Laviolette handled him better, it's possible he'd develop into a good solid starter.
However, everytime Bob was given a shot to win the job, he'd start allowing soft goals. He's done it in Columbus, too. He's had games where you see him committing robbery left and right, then getting beat five hole on an unscreened shot from a 4th liner. - Jsaquella
Sort of like bryz but without the contract? |

Let's say he plays 4 more good years after this year and struggles in his 5th (year 7 of deal). You don't think a small market team would be interested in Bryz for the last 2 years of his deal? They would only have to pay him a total of $3.5 million for 2 years of a $5.67 million cap hit. |

I'm well aware of that penalty and that's the only real reason I'd want them to buyout Bryz. |

And without the track record. That's the thing that people seem to forget. Bryzgalov had 4 or 5 years as an exceptional NHL starter prior to coming to Philly. He didn't roll off a turnip truck and get handed a huge contract. |

has bobrovsky even registered an actual shutout in a full game yet?
edit: answer - no. |

Bryz would be great right now if this team was a cotender....but that realistically isnt for another 3 years....i say you trade for bernier .... a 27/28 yr old Bernier > then a 35 yr old bryz. |

That's far and away my biggest concern. Of course, if he does walk away, he'd be leaving a few million on the table |

That's the situation we have now with Briere, including the NMC. We'll see how many suitors the Flyers get for him come April. Hopefully quite a few. |

Of course, the counter to that argument is that he was playing in a system that made goalies look better than they actually were. |

I think Danny will want to go to a contender. Either way, I don't think we see him in the O & B in 2013-14. |

Bryzgalov doesn't have the child custody issues that Briere does either. |

If Bernier turns out to be a good goalie, sure. If he doesn't, you traded a high pick in a deep draft for Brian Boucher or Robert Esche |

Yeah, Bryz let in a bad goal... name one goalie that doesn't happen to. I still see him making key saves to keep us in games. Personally I think we need to use our backup a little more and get him some rest.
Toronto's defense kept us to the outside through much of the game, their pk stopped our powerplay and Scrivens had the answers when they diddn't. In a word, we got beat. We had a couple of bounces go the other way, we could have won.
This is a hardworking and talented team... the problem is, so is the other team. |
