Too far up the ice, you mean?
He is one of a few players they have that can reliably transition the puck out of their zone to offense, IMO.
Without a true transition defenseman on each pair, Voracek is a key guy for them in this regard. - Marc D
one last nite and another against WPG on one of our goals. coulda easily gone the other way and last nite we saw that.
you're right about the transition. a guy like OEL would be a game changer. |

Kadri looks better every time I watch him, he is going to be really good I think. - Marc D
I think we're seeing right now why the professional coaches and GM's are working in the NHL and your average fan isn't.
To think that just a couple months ago Toronto fans were calling Kadri a bust and using him as throw in's in trades is crazy.
The kids always had the offensive vision, IQ, and hands. They were just keeping him in the minors until Eakins could work on his defensive game and decision making. His turnovers are WAY down, and he doesn't make those stupid mistakes in the neutral zone anymore. He picks his spots to deke and most of the time he comes away with the puck.
Now he needs to work on his faceoffs. |

Haha, yeah. I mean whenever I catch them, they spend minimal time on the Flyers, and it's never in a serious regard. I've heard some good stuff, but not much. - Flyers_V88
WHen you think about it, anonyomous players supposedly leaking things from the locker room is really a punk move. First off, it does NOTHING to help your team. Second, does anyone think a leadership player like, Giroux, Kimo, Briere or even Hartnell would stoop so low? IF a player did in fact do this, I'd say it's someone who A. Has a hard time even getting a game uniform on, B. Isn't the type of player you want on your team to begin with.
I really believe if a leadership player has something to say, they come out and put their face and name on it. Not hide in anonymity. |

Couldn't agree more, well said. I think it's just a buzz-spin they're trying to get going. I get the impression they think Bryz is a joke from what he's said and done, and they don't like him. The Flyers, based on the team, don't even really have a guy like that currently who I can think of saying that...? Can anyone else think of one? |

anyone listening to 97.5 today? I just recieved a text message that they are trashing Bryz on there, saying players have leaked or said that he is negative in locker room. - JoeRussomanno
a) rumors on 97.5 are worth the paper they're delivered to you on
b) someone sure as hell should be. It's nice Hartnell can finally play and feel comfortable calling them out, as he did on the record last night after the game. I have a lot more interest in what a guy says publicly than what someone else reports someone said privately. |

The Flyers typically have 1-2 forwards beyond the red line looking for the home run pass. Not going to work with the defenseman they have. - Marc D
There was one play last night that was textbook this. You had both defenders and a forward way back and the defender ends up passing to a forward near center ice. And of course, with the remarkable passing and puck handling skills of this squad, that is a turnover that waits to and then does happen. |

I have to admit it's just embarrassing the talk radio in Philly. I live in buffalo area and whenever I go on Internet radio all talk is about phillies and eagles? Really, Even on flyer game days. It so sad. I tune in and turn it right off. These idiots calling in asking a eagles question ten minutes before puck drop on flyers pregame really?! And it's sadder when hoSt admits they don't watch hockey. |

really wasn't sure about that. I know they picked up the flyers games so i was hoping theyd be more about whats right by the team. Guess I was wrong in such hopes. Agrees on B wholeheartedly. |

Just to be sure, you're saying that the Flyers signed Bryzgalov so they wouldn't have to play well defensively. So they can just ignore their end of the ice, and play an all out open attack system, and just let Bryzgalov make the saves. Just looking for clarification. - MJL

my take on the flyers and their off season is well archived. not in the mood to blow up the board. wanted to keep JVR and carle and go from there... - isaiah520
But JVR is happier now where a team has a plan for him. If only I could remember where I read the quote this morning so I could link for you. |

There's one I look for in a game. Wide open white ice! The Gap is always mentioned. Look at how Toronto played last night. They played as a 5 man unit from goal line to goal line. Flyers when they're on the forecheck, if the opposition get's the puck past the forecheckers, it's white ice and a free skate into the Flyers zone. Same thing when the Flyers have the puck, Winger up ice, with lots of space between them. When you play as a 5 man unit up and down the ice, and the gap is tight. There is puck support in all 3 zones. |

That's my issue too as I said earlier, being in Toronto, whenever you tune in it's almost NEVER exclusively Flyers talk... Now I do realize that in Canada and the super-upper states, we're blessed to be fully hockey oriented and it usually is priroity, but on the Fanatic it's ALWAYS Eagles, Phillies, and Sixers... I guess it's unfair to assume that the Philly market would like to hear predominately Flyers/hockey talk. And I'm a big fan of the big North American 4 sports, but hockey BY FAR trumps any of the other 3. I wish the Fan and TSN1050 were Flyers talk instead of constant Leafs talk lol. |

Do you see this as more of a coaching issue, or the players failing to perform and be in the right position?

I think it was that they said they were "aggressively" pursuing Stanton which makes it seem like a deal is imminent. |

Did you mention that you were a long time listener, first time caller, and that you had a question and a comment, and that you were then going to hang up and listen to the host's response? |
