Did you mention that you were a long time listener, first time caller, and that you had a question and a comment, and that you were then going to hang up and listen to the host's response? - Atomic Wedgie

Actually there's alot of flyer fans in buffalo area. Always a good turn out for Philly games here. - SMS4016
They're everywhere. I lived in Ottawa for 6 years for school, and everytime the Flyers played the Sens in Ottawa, I'd get tickets. Always a good turnout, I was even on the CSN feed highlights one game wearing my vintage Nike Lindros jersey from the Finals in 1997, it was cool to see lol.
Do you see this as more of a coaching issue, or the players failing to perform and be in the right position? - Marc D
I see it as some of both. I'm going to make a statement that is contradictory. I don't like the way Laviolette likes to play. However that doesn't mean a team can't be successful playing that way. He took a poor Islander's team to the playoffs. Obviously won a Cup in Carolina. And Coached the Flyers to the Finals. The problem is that there is just as much of poor results of the teams he has Coached also. Carolina missed the playoffs the remaining years he was there. It's sink or swim with Laviolette.
That's my issue too as I said earlier, being in Toronto, whenever you tune in it's almost NEVER exclusively Flyers talk... Now I do realize that in Canada and the super-upper states, we're blessed to be fully hockey oriented and it usually is priroity, but on the Fanatic it's ALWAYS Eagles, Phillies, and Sixers... I guess it's unfair to assume that the Philly market would like to hear predominately Flyers/hockey talk. And I'm a big fan of the big North American 4 sports, but hockey BY FAR trumps any of the other 3. I wish the Fan and TSN1050 were Flyers talk instead of constant Leafs talk lol. - Flyers_V88
I also listen to the fan and tsn 1050 and others also. I like to hear good hockey talk not only on flyers but other teams as well. I really don't consideR Philly a hockey town at all. I'd say a flyers town not hockey. Not everyone but for the most part. I go to a few games in Philly every year. It's just A different feel in our area. Not better but different. I also like to get different opinions from around different hockey markets on what they feel about the flyers.

The players have to be fully committed at both ends of the ice for it to work. Now guys get caught cheating or making a lazy play in their own end and it leaves them running around and vulnerable. They end up wasting a ton of energy on trying to defend and it leaves the goalie in a vulnerable spot.
That takes energy and focus from offense and magnifies the impact of a soft goal, markedly.

Yeah I've been on csn Philly a few times in buffalo. I'm always by the visitors tunnel. I get tickets from a buddy 4 rows from ice 1sT seat on tunnel. Great seats.

For sure, I hear that. Obviously in Canada and Toronto, as well as the other NHL cities here in Canada are almost too hockey nuts, and it's completely unrealistic to expect that when most other cities in the US have NBA, NFL, and MLB teams too. But, TSN1050 and the Fan590 do hold their own when talking hockey. I'd say your dead on about that comment with Philly being a Flyers-town. They love the Flyers more than most cities love their NBA or NFL teams. I will say this, I think it's just primarily economics that contributes to this issue, for most families in the US and in Canada too, hockey is just too expensive to play, and therefore a lot of people dismiss it or just don't get heavily into it.

But JVR is happier now where a team has a plan for him. If only I could remember where I read the quote this morning so I could link for you. - bodiva88
i actually heard that. he's just getting prime time mins on a top line...didn't really seem like he was complaining. w/ jagr out of the picture, i have no doubt JVR would have had a solid top 6 role here. didn't like the deal, but luke is holding up his end fairly well.

Hate to join in the all to easy, finger pointing and villifying of figures in Philadelphia, but I'm not seeing his style as that of conducive to winning with this make up of players. His successes with Carolina and here in 2010 had seasoned veteran cores not what we have now.
Sucks to gamble on 3 different players and lose! I give him credit for trying, but when you put all your eggs in that free agent basket, sometimes you come up empty. I sincerely hope he doesn't do anything stupid like trading the youth of the team for aging vets, ala Bob Clarke circa 2002. - aantny88
21 scouts and front office members at the game last night...Homer has to pull the trigger before Snider pulls the trigger on him
I'd pick Marc-Andre Fleury as the most overrated goalie in the NHL, and Kari Lehtonen as the most underrated. - bmeltzer
i wouldnt put fleury in the top 5, but something has to be said for the fact that fleury is subjected to year in and year out the very same justifications that people are making for brzy right now. team defense is oftentimes pretty optional in pittsburgh. even if the shots against totals are low, the quality of the shots is typically egregious.

Well played, I would have probably went with Esther Williams instead of Janet Evans, but then you would go from 10% of the people getting the joke to about 3%

This in turn epitomizes what people have been saying about Bryzgalov in that if his team is responsible defensively he can win. Such is the case with Fleury winning a cup for you guys.
