True story: I walked into the ACC a few years ago - held up my ticket and they scanned the bar code, and told me to walk in. So I take about five steps, still holding my ticket in my hand like a dumb-ass, and right in front of me is Walter Gretzky.
So I blurt out "Wally - nice to meet you" or something to that effect. He motions for me to give him my ticket. I'm not sure what the hell he wants, but it's Wally Gretzky, so I'm not about to say no.
He takes my ticket, whips out a black sharpie pen and autographs it. I thank him, trying really hard not to giggle.
Like, why would I want Wally's autograph, on a Leafs ticket for a game that has nothing to do with him or his son?
To be honest, I've never really understood the whole autograph concept. - Atomic Wedgie
There's this place, not sure if it's even there anymore but it's called Schuster's Shoes on white horse pike in Berlin, (my god I haven't been up that way in over 5 years, okay i feel old now) anyway, the Flyers would go there a lot especially to do autograph events. Well one day shortly after his retirement, Bill Barber is in there while my mom has me trying on school shoes. I'm not paying attention to the shoe salesman while I'm drooling over all the cool flyers posters they had in there on the walls. Well to get my attention for some odd reason, the Salesman points out that Bill Barber just walked in. I didn't recognize him out of Flyers uniform but got so excited I ran up to him to get an autograph, so taken with jitters at meeting a Flyer legend in real life that through my stammering he says "Autograph? What you want it on?" So in my idiotic youth I pulled a napkin out of my pocket which had everyone in the store roaring. I think somewhere in the archives of crap my parents have been asking me for years to get out of their basement that napkin with Bill Barbers autograph still exists.

Elite in their prime, I think they have had 3. Parent, Clarke, Lindros.
Leclair is close, and Giroux has a very good chance to get there. |

Happier, yes. If I thought he was 100% I might even smile (quietly, to myself). |

say what?
then neither was Pronger - Marc D
Jagr was a nice player to have last year but hardly what I would call elite. I stand corrected on Forsberg's first season here. As for Pronger that one is kinda borderline and I loved Pronger. He provided a great boost which they are sorely missing but I don't think he was the player we saw in 2007 with Anaheim. |

People are taking Giroux out of the elite talk but I still believe he's a top 5 player in the league. He can still create offense out of nothing and has outstanding vision. He's coming around now too. - NickTheKid87
i believe that right now it is crosby, malkin, stamkos, giroux, and although i may be a year early on this one, tavares that are your top 5 forwards going right now. if we are just going off of the players currently in the league right now, i cant see how giroux isnt up there. |

They'd still be playing in the Spectrum after missing the playoffs through the entirety of the 1990s and early 2000s? |
