Don't worry the flyers will trade their 2nd for Colton Orr to replace him. He scored a beast of a goal against us last time
- Just5

Shelley playing well in those few games against the Flyers had zero to do with the Flyers signing him. You've been told once, don't ever make unsubstantiated allegations again.

I was as much a Pelle fan and was just as upset as the next guy hearing that he had died and how he died.

Regardless of whether or not that story is true, the facts remain (as far as I know) that he had a few beverages and was driving a powerfully built car well over the speed limit. An unquestionable invitation for disaster.

And yes, it was Pelle's fault. It was beyond reckless.

- 77rams

Please understand, I wasn't implying otherwise.

I put it in quotes specifically - just wanted to pass along how the story was told to me (relating back to "what really happened").

Not to continue with the morbid theme, but what did the Flyers do to honour Dmitri Tertyshny? Is his number retired?
- Atomic Wedgie

No. Coburn wears it now and Kim Johnsson before him.

No but I'm pretty sure Snider has paid for his child to go through school and what not.

His number isn't retired, I don't believe. I don't even know what number he was.

Having driven by the accident site pretty much 5 days a week for the last 12 years, I can say that the accident was a perfect storm of bad events and decisions. He hit the wall at a "perfect" place. Had he hit it maybe 5 feet to the right the car may have have hit at an angle and not stopped dead like it did hitting the stair opening he did hit.

I remember the skid marks only being about 8-10 feet long.

It really is stunning how badly that 1987 team was banged up. I do think in 1986, though, they would have won if Lindbergh had not been in the accident. They were firing on all cylinders, had the best goalie in the NHL and Edmonton wasn't in the SCF...not that the Flames were pushovers, though
- Jsaquella

No the Flames weren't pushovers but they weren't the offensive dynamos Edmonton was either.

I like to use the term 'unremarkable'

Nodl was good along the boards, good skater, always seemed to be in the right position both offensively and defensively. For some odd reason, he could never pot any goals. He had the chances. I remember getting excited about the goals he did score. There was one against Carolina that was great hand eye, it was a good deflection from the high slot. I had hope that it would give him some offensive confidence. Nothing.

He wore #5.

Edit: I think Kim Johnsson was the first to wear it after his death. Obviously Coburn wears it now.

I see what you're saying. You can get Malkin off his game, which is virtually impossible to do with Crosby.
- NickTheKid87

It's not that hard. Just look at last year's playoffs.

I guarantee it's fatigue... And remember, Bryz is an intellect and is very aware of the pressure and expectation to win in this city. Couple that pressure with the travel, fatigue, poopty play by the team as a whole, and it all adds up. We don't have the depth or overall talent to slide through games last year...
- Flyers_V88

Its not fatigue... Players who skate their asses off for 20 minutes a game have the fatigue excuse, I don't see it for the goalie. It's not like he is exerting much effort. Unless he is just mentally tired of letting in ugly goals, I don't know what else to say. He needs to play like he did the first 12 games or so.

I see he played 62 games in 98-99. I don't really remember him at all.

He still managed 8 points in those 6 games. That serious was totally off the wall though. Nothing made any sense.

My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with the girl who heard it at 31 Flavors the night. I guess it's pretty serious.
- BringBack25

I didn't believe anything but when you hear one of his teammates discussing it and referencing front office staff you put a little weight behind it.

My memory from my early 20's pretty much sucks. I remember the accident, I don't have any recollection of him playing in games.
