Gagne was 9 when Keenan was fired

Sounds like somebody didn't get "The Best of Eklund" coffee table book for Christmas this year.

Any word on how Ponger is feeling today?

Thanks. We are allowed to not like the deal right?
- stveshdy

That's my point. You are NOT allowed to dislike this deal. It's a rule.

I honestly hope we dont get buff, we dont need a d man to stand in front of the net and create more odd man rushes for us. Buff works in the jets system because they work him into the offense, I just dont see that happeneing. There are 1-2 other jets d men that I would rather have over buff.

No need for Dustin Byfuglien.

It's throwback Tuesday, right?

Two words: Chris Therien.

It's not like he isn't drawing a paycheck from the Flyers, amirite?

The flyers once again go back to the future.

I don't understand this trade. Why throw away a 4th round pick on a guy who is a shell of himself.

Steve, I agree with you, I see this trade as a waste of a pick. I would rather harry z play or another kid over this has been.

- ggunky

I am thinking that Homer wants some help at forward with Read gone. How deep is the draft at the 4th round? If this was a 1-3 pick I'd be mad.. as it is..I am ok with it.

Gagne may not score like he did but he was always a responsible 2 way forward.
Might work OK.
Why not for a 4th rounder?

I guess I can't see really how it hurts them. It's a depth move.

And if you want to get upset, get upset because they are so bereft of talent, they don't have anyone ready at Adirondack to step up yet.

- johndewar

Don't like trading away a pick for a guy who is pretty much done. Rather let a younger guy play those minutes. He has no future here.

I just don't like the move. Personal opinion.
- stveshdy

I just think people are making too much out of it. Gagne's a depth guy at this point. Nobody even knows if he'll end up costing the Flyers anything, depending on what the conditions are.

You think this move makes them a better team? Just curious.
- stveshdy

This is a terrible trade! Gagne is past his playing days at 32 due to too many injuries. But what is it good for? Appeasing the fans- just look at all the Gagne love. If you can't win games, keep your fans happy. Also, we might be able to trade him at the TDL if we are well out of it for something and not pay the 4th rounder.

Flyers might have just re-acquired Simon Gagne

Yup, for a 4th rounder

- Jsaquella

I am aiight with that. Hopefully Gags still has something left in the tank. Will be nice to see him in orange and black again.

Conditional fourth rounder. Speaking of, are the conditions known?

Knuble and Fedetenko haven't been very good. Knuble was scooped up from Rochester playing for the Wings minor league team. If Talbot and Briere would start producing that would help.

If Read wasn't injured, I doubt the Flyers bring Gagne back.

- PLindbergh31

Probably so but even still, I would rather have a third line of Read-Couturier-Gagne then a 4th of Rinaldo-Talbot-Knuble/McGinn than what they have out there now.

I know Fedotenko is a good PK guy but I just don't like him.

Will see. I just rather have a young kid playing those minutes. Wellwood, Harry Z, etc.

I don't see how Gagne fits into their future.

Not necessarily. If they're sellers at the TDL, Gagne's just another chip to move for picks. This is a really inconsequential move. Way too much being made out of it.
- Jsaquella

So you are hoping to get a conditional 4th rounder for him?

The problem is, they don't have a young guy good enough to take those minutes.

Organizational depth is a legitimate problem with this franchise.

Oh, and I think I read that this 4th round pick isn't even the Flyers' pick....it's a pick they got in another deal. Is that true? Because if that's true, then I REALLY can't see getting upset over this.
