They could dress Kurtis Foster so he can display that "Datsun pulling a Space Shuttle" speed of his. - Jsaquella
Foster is faster than Manti T'eo |

Apparently every minor transaction is going to require 57 pages of discussion.
Obviously, the injuries to Read and McGinn led to today's trade. Gagne rejoining the line-up isn't going to result in a young guy that should otherwise be playing sitting out, and there's still plenty of time to swing a deal should they not rebound and make the playoffs. The late TDL gives them more time.
Sorry to hijack your post, Skip - Jsaquella
bringing gagne back isn't exactly of the minor variety. it's gagne. it's not like they traded for some no name scrub who was never on the flyers. history here is obviously driving the content. |

The only two defensemen that looked like they were above AHL level were Grossmann and Schenn last night. - Jsaquella
Coburn is a disappointment so far this year. The guy can look amazing and then just disappear the following week(s). |

He had plenty of company. So was Kimmo Tacklenen. - PLindbergh31
love what kimmo has brought, but another full yr at 6MM...i dunno, a little quick on the trigger for me. by mid season next yr, he might be tackling forwards at the top of the circle in the O zone. |

And if Gagne can recapture his past glory to some extent in the "more uptempo" Flyers system, maybe he brings in more than a 3rd at the TDL - Jsaquella
Another way it could go |

That's what is hurting the Flyers right now. They dont have a defenseman who can create and take chances in the offensive zone. The speed is lacking on the blueline IMO. Can't take risk if you know you dont have the wheels to get back. |

The Flyers got a good deal on him though with that 1 yr $6M extension. - stveshdy

Way to quick on the trigger for me. Like I posted before, what til the end of the season and if Timonen stayed relatively healthy and played well, offer him a contract. Right now he's injured, and even before the injury he wasn't playing well. Right now I would prefer to have that 6 million in cap space available next year. |

Timonen was playing better before getting dinged up in the Devils game. Since then, his first step has been really lacking. Have to wonder if he should even be playing right now. |

One thing that was clarified for me is that the 4th is actually an extra one we had from Phoenix. Don't really want them spending a third though if by some miracle we make the playoffs. |

it's not a deal for stamkos - i'm not saying it was. simply the player's long history with the team, and he was an important player at that. you understand this. if it was a minor nobody player the conversation would have moved on - probably to what other moves might holmgren have up his sleeve. |

Imagine when we get MAB and Pronger back. This team will take off. |

I didn't realize that. So the Flyers had two fourth round picks this year? |

the only part of the minor transaction that concerns me is the cap hit and it's effect on flexibility going towards the TDL. - isaiah520
Not much of an effect. They can still have plenty of flexibility then, once they make some decisions. And get a better idea of the health of some players such as Meszaros.
