I thought the habs hated Ryder. Like healthy scratched and couldn't wait to trade him hate. They gave it to him good when he was in his slump, now they want to give Cole for him? Cole who they loved last year but is now in a slump and they are giving it to him. Wow the habs sure know how to make a name for themselves. Good like with the UFA's this off season. |

UFA's have a pretty short memory once you hand them a nice, big contract. Bergevin seems like a solid GM to me so far. |

Flyers should do the subtle tank and try to grab a top 5 pick. Heresy, I guess, in Flyerland. - PrinceLH
Normally it's heresy. In this throwaway season I'm all for it. Pittsburgh proved that the tanking approach can clearly work. |

Eklund: Rumor Update. Flyers with interest in Dustin Byfuglien (e3) - Eklund
The Flyers would have to over pay huge to get Byfuglien
Buff is the best player on the Jets team Eklund what do you think the asking price from the Jets is going to be too the flyers?
My guess if this has any truth to it we are looking at center iceman.
Brayden Schenn would be coming to the Jets for sure plus a lot more. |

One thing I have learned about the Winnipeg management is they do not give players away that are signed long term who are their best players.
I too think that if the Jets were to deal a player on Defense its going to be BOGO just because his contract is up after this season and he may be asking for a kings ransom.
The Jets have seen that they can win with out him in the lineup. Buff they can't win with when he is out. At least not to the extent that they win when he's healthy.

Couturier >> Schenn - Nucker101
To me Couturier is not the guy they want. They passed on him at the draft.
Schenn played most of his career in Brandon in the WHL our president of hockey ops has a huge inside in the wheat kings organization.
There is know way they trade buff thought im thinking its BOgo |

Just throwing this out there. But would it make sense for the Jets to consider a Bogosian for Schneider trade with some other parts involved? Just curious since I don't follow the Jets closely. Kane would be even better but I don't buy the rumours. |

I'm sure that they would love Schneider but the issue is the Jets are paying big money to Pavelec already.

Lost and bent over the table unwillingly are two different things. How Homer is still a GM is beyond me. Nothing but stupid moves the last couple years.

Don't forget one thing - he hates the Habs, and regardless of how successful any given move may be, he will find the negative. |

I have no idea how Montreal gets any criticism for that deal. They got the younger cheaper guy with the better numbers AND got a 3rd AND cap space. |

It's not like they're ready to win right now anyhow, and so agreed - the pick and the cap space are a big part of the deal. |

He traded Richards and Carter.. and out of those two players he got:
Jakub Voracek ( 7th in scoring with 24 points), Brayden Schenn ( 17pts), Wayne Simmonds (15 points), Sean Couturier (having a offensively difficult season but very good defensively, 7pts), Niklas Grossmann (2nd in the NHL in blocked shots and 5th in hits for a d-man), Nick Cousins (leads OHL in pts)...
Richards and Carter combined have 24pts.
The package they received in return... 63 points.

The Habs have managed to go from 15th to 1st, realistically competing for mid conference finish (given still lots of hockey left to be played) without the abundance of premium draft picks the Oilers have got, when was the last time the Oilers were 1st in their conference or even division during a season? since the lockout theyve had 1 competitive season. So i guess same could be said for you?...."Good luck with the UFA's this offseason" |

It was a shrewd couple deals from Philly, that's for sure. I still think long term that Philly won both of those trades.
Philadelphia's struggles this year wouldn't be magically fixed if they still had Carter/Richards. In fact they would arguable be worse, because Couturier+Voracek are better defensively than Carter+Richards, and defensively is where they're struggling. |

The Flyers biggest issue is that they play like crap in their own end and in the transition game. They get stuck in their own end, or turn the puck over in the neutral zone, and it leads to a lot of wasted energy in their own zone or glorious chances to score for the opponent.
It also prevents them from scoring a lot even with the offensive talent that they have up front. Guys are gassed, and can't get to the net for screens or rebounds and the fast breaks they thrived on last year aren't there.
and then the local media blames Bryzgalov and goads him into Borat impressions
