I can't understand this from St. Louis point of view. I know they can handle the cap hit. But do they similar D coming down their pipeline or something? - Just5
That's just it, St. Louis was never said to be shopping Shattenkirk. It's a made up rumor. |

Overall, I think that is reasonable. Although that might not be the case right now with Coburn. He's been disapointing this Season. - MJL
I'd agree that Coburn has look unlike himself at times, but I truly think most of his, and the team's problems, are larely due to the schedule, lack of practice, lack of rest, travel, and pressure on the D as a whole to keep things tight. The players aren't stupid, nor is Lavi... They're aware that the organization as a whole, GROSSLY mis-projected production and talent expextations for the current players on this team this season.
I really think that sums up Holmgren's lack of back-up moves too, that really, I think the organization projected the same, if not more from the young players and veterans, and that hasn't been the case at all. |

I will offer this in reply. Grossmann looks just fine out there. In fact I would say he has raised his game this year. He's on the same team, with the same schedule and lack of pratice. I think Coburn has simply underacheived to this point. |

Here's the actual quote from Briere:
"I don't want to comment on anything at this point. Trades are not my department. I've been a Flyer for a long time. My heart belongs in Philadelphia with the Flyers. I can't see myself playing anywhere else." |

I agree fully that Grossmann has actually looked great in almost every game. His speed is actually surprising for a big man.
That blurb was only my speculation on the assessment of Coburn. I just personally think that there was some very big mis-calculations from the Flyers front-office in how this team would perform with the players they kept. Consequently, I believe it's place tensions on certain areas in which we're seeing certain players under-perform than what we're normally used to. |

Its the Blues inquiring about Danny and reporters putting a name to the Flyers need...I would be careful when dealing with Doug Armstrong..He is one of the best GMs in the game and his track record on trades for the Blues is pretty outstanding I.E Halak trade and Stewart and Shattenkirk trade |

We'd be lucky to get more than a 2nd and a decent prospect. |

It makes no sense at all, even Frank said that st Louis would want a lot more for Shattenkirk than Briere |

He's in a different spot now though. Instead of building, He has a very good team thats somewhat stuck in the mud. I'm sure he'd love to pull off a trade that he will believe may put him over the top, it's hard to win a trade the position he's in now (unless he gets to the Cup Finals) |

If the Flyers come to a decision that they're ready to move on from Briere. they should simply say, look, we're going to buy you out after the Season. So how about doing us a favor and allow us to get an asset for the future? We appreciate all you've done for us, but we've treated you good also. See what he says. - MJL
Regarding a compliance buy out homer shouldn't say anything to briere. If he buys out briere he still has to pay briere AND briere can get paid more by the team the he signs with (its double the pay day). If briere just waives his nmc and is traded he only gets the rest of his current contract. Put yourself in brieres skates, what would you do? |

Yeah but you gotta think past this year. I really like Danny and would hate to see him go.. However his 6.5 cap hit is one of the things holding us back. If you get lets say a 2nd and a prospect and the cap space to land Corey Perry or some other big name free agent it doesnt look so bad |

Well Briere really wants to play here so I'm not sure if money is all that important to him. He has a greater chance of playing here next year by being bought out by another team and signing a cheaper deal with the Flyers than he does staying with not waiving his NMC.
Edit: Also what Jsaq said a couple posts down. |

The other team can buy Briere out, too. |

He wrote that the Flyers have not asked him to. But Briere's quote was not an equivocal denial of his willingness to consider trade.
What Frank tweeted was not exactly what Briere is quoted as saying. - Jsaquella
Would fine upstanding Frank do a thing like that? |
