It's going to take 4-5 years of patience to see him start to blossom. This organization preaches but often doesn't exercise patience. If you want to develop your own defensemen, it means living through a lengthy learning curve and even perhaps a backward step in year two or three.

It's going to take 4-5 years of patience to see him start to blossom. This organization preaches but often doesn't exercise patience. If you want to develop your own defensemen, it means living through a lengthy learning curve and even perhaps a backward step in year two or three.

By then Giroux will be 30. B Schenn, Couts, LSchenn, all in their prime. I can wait if it going to line up like that. Unfortunately i know the flyers cant and that this is a pipe dream.

So hypothetically speaking if the flyers were to draft first overall who would you go with?

Realistically if they are in the usual 16-25 spot who do you pick if they are available?

He knows his stuff. It's the presentation that took a lot of work. He used to talk over his broadcast partner constantly and pretty much repeat the same things over and over (OK, we get that Team A is trying to get Center B out against Star Player C at every chance). He's toned it down a bit in recent years. When he's calm, he does pick up on nuances of the game. I can do without some of the over-praise of star players (example: you'd think Sidney Crosby was the only NHL player capable of receiving an errant pass in the skates and kicking it to his stick in one smooth motion) but that's just par for the course in national broadcasts.

Honestly, if they end up with the top pick, I'd be more than OK with Drouin or MacKinnon, instead of Jones.

I would LOL if it came from someone who has a real knowledge of the game. Proteau is a part of the new breed of writers at The Hockey News. They pale in comparison to good writers like they use to have, the best example being Bob McKenzie (who is now on TSN & NHL Network).

everyone I know HATES Pierre, he reeks of Pittsburgh, and whenever he compliments any other player who is not on the Pens you can almost hear the disgust in his voice...it is rather sickening.

Proteau was the worst on twitter.

He could be funny sometimes, but more often than not, he's awful. What's worse is that he will repost his awful jokes (which awful in and of itself) and the other lemmings at THN retweet Proteau's horrible joke.

I unfollowed Proteau last season and I gotta say....it still feels great.

He played on some OK teams. He was the guy that usually was traded for the guy that helped his old team get better.

He did manage to have a solid NHL career, though 4 time 30 goal scorer, including 42 goal season, and 5 other times he had 20 or more.
