everyone I know HATES Pierre, he reeks of Pittsburgh, and whenever he compliments any other player who is not on the Pens you can almost hear the disgust in his voice...it is rather sickening. - Pyzik
To be fair, he does the same thing with Claude Giroux and Mike Richards. Generally speaking, he's annoying as hell no matter who he's "praising". |

Emrick has a terribly annoying voice; like a hyperactive gnome. And he spends half the time talking about stuff that has nothing to do with what's happening on the ice, and the other half shoving in his awful catch phrases like "waffle-board". Just call it a blocker like everyone else does. - Feanor
And all that extraneous stuff is often loaded with Easter eggs that 99.999% of the viewers wouldn't care about even if they did know it. |

94 Rangers though he did ride the pressbox the whole time. - Pyzik
20 GP, 3 pts for a Rangers team that obviously didn't need him.
Ed Olczyk played on a whole bunch of bad hockey teams in his career. |

I think this is more of a case of listener bias inferring what they don't want to hear. |

Proteau was the worst on twitter.
He could be funny sometimes, but more often than not, he's awful. What's worse is that he will repost his awful jokes (which awful in and of itself) and the other lemmings at THN retweet Proteau's horrible joke.
I unfollowed Proteau last season and I gotta say....it still feels great. - johndewar
He blocked me for a joke similar to the one I just posted, something about THN being as relevant as phrenology |

I fell like he rides who ever is winning the game at that moment but does seem to get extra worked up for Crosby. |

When he doesn't praise excessively he's actually pretty good. Problem is, that's rare. |

I would LOL if it came from someone who has a real knowledge of the game. Proteau is a part of the new breed of writers at The Hockey News. They pale in comparison to good writers like they use to have, the best example being Bob McKenzie (who is now on TSN & NHL Network). - Flyskippy
I follow Proteau for the humor. He posts some funny stuff.
I follow McKenzie, too.

As much as I enjoy listening to Doc, as he is 1000 times better than Jim Jackson and probably the best commentator in all sports, and I don't have to be annoyed by Steve Coates, I despise Pierre Maguire and Eddie Olcyzk. Those guys constantly kiss the rear end of certain players like Sidney Crosby, Malkin, Ovechkin and every other supposed superstar that doesn't wear Orange and Black! - aantny88
To be fair, he always slobbered over Richards too |

you know if we get Forsberg out of retirement we could have the Ol Knuble, Forsberg, Gagne connection.....with much less goals....and much more injury time |

Your laughing at my admittedly silly joke the other day & Proteau while not liking Monty Python leave me scratching my head. I'd rather follow Joan Rivers (but won't). |

I have found that hockey writers are the most thin skinned species on twitter. I asked Adrian Dater, not name calling or anything, if the Flyers seeking Luongo rumor really made any sense...block.
Randy Miller blocked me and I have no idea why. I had never had any interaction with him before, and I tried to look at a conversation he had with somebody I follow and I got the roadblock.
That started my habit of ripping the Philly media far more severely on twitter than I had before. |

Adrian Dater was the guy who called Claude Giroux a "role player" during the 2010 Playoff run, I believe. Even if Giroux wasn't a prime time player at that time, he should have known Giroux's standing in the org was better than that of a role player given Giroux's draft position and junior hockey pedigree.
And Randy Miller is a baseball writer who is kind of playing at being a hockey writer.
I don't think you're losing much here. |

I think I like these lines better:
Hartnell - Giroux - Voracek
Schenn - Couturier - Simmonds
Gagne - Briere - Knuble
Fedotenko - Talbot - Rinaldo |

Didn't Briere and Gagne enjoy some chemistry when Briere first got here?
Or am I misremembering that? |

Oh, absolutely. I'm not missing jack poop. I get the news from SanFillippo and Panaccio and I go to Bill and other bloggers for analysis. |
