It has I mean look what happened last night, down by two in the third period I usually would pack it in but I knew my Lord KO would come through and he did in a big way. Tied the game up. We lost in overtime but I was so proud of those boys and Jack. It was a sight to see. I turned the TV looked up to the heavens and was like "Lets go Islanders". They will rattle off 5 wins in a row. I have faith in Jack and these wonderful players

Well written...He mentions one of my points which is how 5x5 play has to fall on the system when we're so good on the pk.

This team is talented enough to make the playoffs but lacks a certain 'it' factor. Toughness is part of it since it seems we have no mix of size/talent. Still ultimately the Isles change of attitude has to begin behind the bench and Cappy is clearly in over his head.

I'd say the team can be a borderline 8th place team. We have a top 5 forward. A thirty plus goal scorer on his wing, and like them or not, Bailey, Grabs Okposo, Hamonic, Streit and Viz all have talent. Nabby is a decent goalie. I'm not saying we're by any means a contender, but I think we're talented enough for 8th

Last year we finished 13 points out of the playoffs, I definitely believe if we had hired someone like Hitchcock we may have been able to squeeze 5 to 6 more wins out of the team. That would have been good enough for us to flirt with the final playoff spot.

The coach is part of a mutlitude of problems. They could maybe squeak in with a good coach but there are so many other things that they'd get trounced the way this team is built and their attitude, the not winning attitude. Try to picture them playing Boston in the first round. They'd be taking players off on strecthers. They just have zero drive.

Agreed....but we're only talking about qualifying for the playoffs. This isn't a discussion about whether we're a good team...we're not...but this is the N-Friggin' H-L. Bad teams get in all the time!
I don't think we'd get anywhere, but ultimately even a four game sweep in the 1st round is valuable experience for the few guys we have who are keepers...problem is that the team will wait so long to can Cappy, we won't sniff at 8th anyway.
