Oh, Danny boy, the Blues, the Blues are calling
From rink to rink, and by the net mouth's side
The season's gone, and all the GMs are phoning
'Tis you, 'tis you must go and I must bide. - Lexington Flyer
While I think it would best for the team to trade Briere, I can not see him being moved. If Briere is moved it sends another message to upcoming free agents or own RFAs who make a committment to sign long-term deals here that they will not be honored. It would be one thing if it was a player in the last year of their deal who would accept a trade to a contender when we are out of it but not someone like Briere with still 2 years left on a deal.
If anything, I could see the Flyers amnesty Briere but re-sign him at a more cap-friendly figure in the neighborhood of the salary that he will be making next year.

That and his playoff predigree gives him some value on the trade market. But as you said, not getting Shattenkirk for him. Not without includng something else more then a 1st round pick. Thanks for the correction on Briere's deal. - MJL

I was kidding with my revamp of O Danny Boy. Just thought it funny with all the chatter. I'm still hoping they will make the playoffs, hence I'd like Breire to stay in Orange and Black.

Didn't mean to reply it directly to your O Danny Boy. Just a thought I had reading all the different offers with St Louis and Boston

Teams have to wait a year to re-sign bought out players.
Also, in regards to Briere & other UFAs signing long term deals here, Briere has already spent the majority of his contract here and things have changed significantly since he signed the deal originally. He signed it under a now expired CBA.

If the Richards and Carter deals didn't already poison the well a Briere trade isn't about to taint it anymore.
I think Grossman played maybe his best overall game of the season last night. Hope he can continue this consistently.

this goes on almost as long as Ovechkin slid on his knees after being decapitated. Just uncomfortable.

I actually think Voracek deserved an assist on the opening goal despite not getting one. It looked like he was part of the play but maybe never touched the puck after it briefly touched a Cap defender.
