Totally random...
In 1983-1984 in the QMJHL, Mario Lemieux had 282 points in 70 games. How the hell is that possible? - PLindbergh31
Steroids.
Na, it's Mario. Guy was an amazing talent. |

Honestly, the biggest reason I'm OK with it is, there enough time before the TDL, that if they're out of the playoffs, and are sellers, they can easily recoup the pick. If Gagne has a rebirth and is effective and they're still scuffling, maybe he brings back a 2nd from a desperate team. - Jsaquella
That is a good point. If he can stay healthy, show that he is an effective 3rd line checker who can contribute a few goals and play sound defensively, like he has done throughout his career, they could parlay him into a better pick then what they gave up.

In hindsight, I would have liked the Flyers to sign J. Schultz last year but who knows what would have happened with all the hype surrounding him? He has been so-so in Edmonton this year. - NickTheKid87
By sucking for almost a decade, the Oilers have assembled quite a stable of talent.
RNH, Eberle, Yakupov, Hall, Schultz.... Look out in a couple of years. |

Averaging 4 points a game is totally sick. I never knew he did that. |

Happy for Gagne.
Good guy with a ton of talent but things just didn't work out for him in LA which is too bad.
I hope he finishes the season strong and keeps contributing like he did last night.
p.s. Personal issues aside when he was in Philly, Jeff Carter is a beast and we in LA are thrilled to have him on our team.

A ton of offense. Some of their young defensive dman need to develop as well otherwise they'll need to win every game 5-4. Goalie is an issue too. Maybe Dubnyk's legit and maybe he's not. |

If he shows he's fully healthy and can score at 75% of what he used to, teams might give up even more....of course if he does that, they'll probably not be selling |

Yeah, jury still out on Dubnyk. When they improve defensively, he will look better. |

He DESTROYED the Q...light years ahead of anyone else. If he wasn't plagued by the injuries and other health issue over the years, I think he matches Gretzky.
The year he found out he had cancer, he played half the season and still almost lead the NHL in scoring. Hell, even when he came back and played with the last place team he managed a 90 point season. |

Another player who peaked (statistically) as a 23-year-old. |

Carter looked great last night. He and Richards are damned good players. Can say we're unhappy with the return that we got for them, but I liked both Frick and Frack when they were here. |

Bill Meltzer: Meltzer's Musings: Happy Homecoming, Briere - bmeltzer
Gagne isn't "old", he just has to battle through aging due the injuries his body has had to put up with. Great two way forward, underrated playmaker and a guy I would consider replacing Hartnell/Schenn in the middle of the box on the first unit power play. Schenn seem to has had trouble getting his shot off quickly enough when Giroux feeds him and Hartnell cannot do it without falling. Gagne still has a quick and heavy wrister.
As far as being a nice guy and the nhl leading scorer in recent years for the playoffs, let Briere see through his contract. He is well respected in Philly. He is a leader in Philly. The contract isn't far from being done and I have to ask how does Briere's playoff points get replaced? This team has trouble working hard when it matters, so why divide a guy who really brings it when things are on the line?
I don't understand why Harry Z is in the line up. He brings speed but so does Eric Wellwood but Wellwood also brings penality killing, while being responsible with his speed. |

I agree with you. The last thing you need from a 4th line guy who plays limited minutes is a player who takes dumb penalties. |
