Another player who peaked (statistically) as a 23-year-old. - bradleyc4
Actually his best point per game year came when he was 27. |

It's nuts. Was just looking at his stats, that boggles my mind. - PLindbergh31
Let's not forget 1) there were virtually no butterfly goalies then & 2) both Goalies and Defensemen take longer to develop. Put a world-class talent into the juniors in the pre-dead puck era of hockey and there you go. |

Yeah... but averaging 4 points a game? That is just crazy. |

He DESTROYED the Q...light years ahead of anyone else. If he wasn't plagued by the injuries and other health issue over the years, I think he matches Gretzky.
The year he found out he had cancer, he played half the season and still almost lead the NHL in scoring. Hell, even when he came back and played with the last place team he managed a 90 point season. - Jsaquella
He even put up 22 points in 26 games in 2005-06 at age 40. That's pretty impressive for a guy who was virtually destroyed physically. |

Missed his age 29 season so we'll never know... |

Carter looked great last night. He and Richards are damned good players. Can say we're unhappy with the return that we got for them, but I liked both Frick and Frack when they were here. - Jsaquella
they know in their hearts that they both frucked up and grew up as a result. good for them...talent was never the issue. |

I agree with you. The last thing you need from a 4th line guy who plays limited minutes is a player who takes dumb penalties. - PLindbergh31
maybe it's the physical edge, i dunno. harry's a little out of control for me. i like wellwood better too. |

They are both good players and both players are probably better served when they aren't the focal point of the team the way they were here in Philly. |

Mario could have been an NHLer at 16. Same with Gretzky. |

What's the educated guess with Gustafsson today?
Broken foot, fractured tibia... God forbid he have a bruise. |

I was watching video of the NHL game when Tim Kerr scored 4 goals in a playoff game against the Rangers. Glenn Hanlon looks like an out of shape horse jockey between the pipes in that game. |

I'm guessing it's the worst case scenario because, God forbid, we can feel good about this team for 24 hours without another injury creeping in. |

The were very good players here, but they are asked to do different things in LA, I think, than what they were asked to do here.
Not that there's anything wrong with that. |

I find it to be a huge concentration that Meszaros is hurt, Foster can't crack the lone up, so that leaves a massive margin for puck movers between Timonen and Gustafson. Now he's hurt... again |

I hope it's not serious. He's been good. If he's out an extended period of time I think we'll see exactly how effective he's been (i.e. the team will struggle). |

He missed his calling. A writer/reporter isn't what he is best suited for. He would have made a great character on the Sopranos. David Chase should have developed a special needs son for Paulie Walnuts. Frank would have been perfect. |
