So, the proverbial IF, Briere was willing to waive his NMC. What do the Flyers have to add to make the trade a reality?

Enough losses to make them sellers?

Which I hope does not happpen.

Couturier, if you look at his advanced stats, is already an elite level defensive player. He starts 40% of the time in the offensive zone, but over 60% of his shifts end in the other team's end. That's a huge flip.

I expect Laughton to someday be a good, solid 3rd line center. I expect Couturier to be a 25 goal guy who wins a Selke.

he'll take a quantum leap offensively when he improves his skating balance and agility

I'd hate to give up Gus and find the Flyers right back were they started when Timo leaves. Problem here is unless there's a gentleman's handshake that the Blue's buyout Briere he won't wave his NMC. Therefor Flyers would have to sweten the pot.

I don't think that is true that the Blues would have to agree to buy him out for him to waive his NMC. And if we were getting back Shattenkirk, who cares about giving up Gustafsson.

it's the #1 area for improvement. no question and i think this is an accurate assessment then and now:

"Compared to the rest of the package, his skating is only average with the first few steps needing some extra work"
