I know you guys are probably not too happy with the suspension but I think it was the right decision. I won't comment on what alfie did, I'll leave it up to the league for discipline. I have no problem with big hits, in fact I love them, but why would HZ leave his feet like that? He charged from the bench, took a run at a player and then left his feet. Sadly, if he didn't leave his feet, he still would have creamed Lundin and it'd be a clean hard legal hit. - Multiple Scorgasms
its not that I disagree with it, he deserved it, my problem is I see the poop guys like Neal do in last year's playoffs and get one game. The inconsistency as the other poster pointed out is bullpoop. |

Interesting. Would it make sense then, for the Flyers to try and trade Pronger to a team that struggles to reach the cap floor. Pronger could retire after the trade, he could then most likely collect insurance since he is retiring due to injury. The acquiring team now has a 4.9million cap hit for the next 4 years to help them reach the floor and the flyers get some cap relief.
I could see them trading Pronger to either Phoenix, the Islanders or Nashville. They could offer Pronger and a 2nd in 14 for maybe a 4th in 14. I would trade a second round pick to get out from under Pronger's deal.
Thoughts? - BiggE
Cap Recapture formula is an issue for the Flyers.

That's fair and its really too bad that the suspensions in essence are decided by one man who does tend to make the wrong decision. There really needs to be some sort of impartial panel of 3 or 5 people deciding on this. It would help to take some of the controversy over some decisions. |

I wonder if the proximity of the Perreault hit consciously or unconsciously played a part in the decision? |

Obviously can't answer that. Certainly possible. But by rule it shouldn't.

You won't comment on the alfie crosscheck? Do you work for the Sens or something? Classic case of NHL double standard. Has nothing to do with the Flyers but just the protected players vs. the players Shanahan can and likses to dump on |

Thats the cool thing about facts, even if you disagree with them, their still true.
So seeing as how Knuble is a rostered NHL player right now, he is clearly a capable NHL player regardless of anyones opinion. - mochoson
Thanks. I'm sure that any rostered AHL player right now is an incapable NHL player as well. Let's not have opinion get in the way of facts anymore. |

2-3 games would be right, 4 games is what it is. The hit was worth a suspension, but to have nothing against Alfie is a joke. He used is stick to target another players head not once but twice. Be a real man and drop the gloves if he wants to make a statement that he didn't like the hit.
I don't think anyone on here thinks Harry Z, shouldn't have been suspended.
If there is no suspension for Alfie I like to see Rinaldo return the favor and if he did I hope not to see anyone complain if he doesn't get a suspension. |

His statement is not saying that if a player is in the AHL, then he's not capable of playing in the NHL.

Here's the thing for me. You can debate intent with an open ice hit. I don't believe that Harry Z was trying to hurt the player. He was trying to make a big hit. But like I said, it can debated as far as intent. In the situation with Alfredsson. There is really no debate on intent when you cross check a player to the face. It is malicious, and there is clear anger behind it. So how that act escapes a suspension, is hard for me to understand.

Star power. Shanahan makes examples out of the lower tier players and then when stars do it he cuts the suspension in half. |

Harry Z deserved exactly what Neal got which was 1 game.
it was the same it though not as late as the Neal hit. I want someone to explain to me what the differences between the 2 hits were other than one is a star and one is not.
Alfie should have also gotten 1 game..If the tables were turned Rinaldo would be looking at least 2 for that..

It seems he's doing very well I keep checking in with a person who covers the team. He is 11-2-1 with a 2.14 GAA & .927 save % seeing action in 16 total games
This is what I was told recently.
"very athletic for his size. Has decent glove hand. Not the best puck handler. He’ll play in the NHL someday." |

Exactly, 100% agree. Not just one crosscheck to the head but two. If they want to be taken seriously they need to be consistent. Also if intent is one of the key things they look for, well Alfie sits 4 games. Intent it injure, that's there, targets head that's there. Not sure how much more clear cut this is. |

Apparently so. Z gets 2 games for the hit, an additional game for being a scrub, and one more for the orange sweater Way to go Shamny |
