UFA's: Howard, Smith, and Backstrom
Not sure if your upgrading the position - stveshdy
Not sure if they are available at the start of free agency or if they will come cheaper than bryzgalov. We should have learned this last summer as Matt Carle got on a plane to Tampa bay. Not saying you didn't but apparently there are plenty who have not. |

Also very possible that, come summer, Howard & Smith will be re-signed.
Which is why I wait to do anything, including trading for Bernier and his 15 Stanley Cup rings. |

It's not a mystery to casual posters here I personally don't like Briere but that's just a personal preference. His playoff performance of timely goals is nothing to scoff at. However there are players waiting in the wings to step in and making Danny an odd piece. So I can be on board with amnesty for him. As for bryzgalov he's the best goalie the flyers had since esche and before him hextall. There's no one in the organization or available via Free agency to replace him. If and when homer can find an upgrade then by all means unfortunately for certain delusional fans there isn't a viable replacement right now who is available. - JoeRussomanno
I wouldnt go as far as to say a replacement is not out there.
Backstrom and Hiller are probably the two you would be looking at. Both of which are close to arguably just as good as Bryzgalov performance wise. Would also be cheaper, and for less term. |

Agreed.
If you replace Briere with a faceoff guy and a decent winger more suited to play with our younger guys there is little doubt in my mind the offense will come.
If you buyout Bryz youre just going to have to trade additional assets to get another goalie. That makes zero sense. - hereticpride
We have players who are luxuries such as Matt Read to use as trade bait! |

it's not gonna be a big deal to carry bryz's cap hit while they groom a replacement ie stolarz |

All te bryz lovers should watch the kings game tonight. Watch bernier and you will see a younger more athletic and extremely less expensive version of bryz. And just think if you bought out bryz you could have that. Lol maybe that's a little extreme but it's a Monday non game night. Gotta get a little slack. - SMS4016
Bernier is talented. Not sure what the cost is and if the Flyers can get better by buying Bryz out. |

You also assume that LA would move him Read & a 2nd rounder. Well, the past asking price was a roster player & a 1st. It also ignores that Bernier has never been. Full time starter and that he plays behind a very tight checking Kings team. |

Will see what happens. Homer will make the necessary decisions that he feels will help this team improve.
Last summer he missed out but I have faith he will hit the jackpot again! |

Dollar for dollar Read is one of the more valuable players in the NHL imo. I really love Read's game. Whoever found him kudos to them. Sure it would be great if he was 22, but soon to be 27 isn't exactly a fossil. I'm hoping the Flyers lock Read up. I'm a big fan of his. - PLindbergh31
With all the young guys, the question of 'who do we keep?' is coming up as contracts are set to expire. Read's played well enough to make that question more difficult.
Good problem to have! |

I'm just messing with you guys... Just stirring the pot. Homer can take this team in many different ways. I personally just hope he doesn't stand pat going into next year. The one maIn thing I want done... Briere f n g gone. |

Trenton is Beverly Hills compared to Camden. The area where the arena is isn't bad. I have been there several times. |

Backstrom has injury question marks and Hiller you woul dhave to give up pieces to bring in.
My reasons for keeping Bryzgalov as of now. There are still many games left, lets see what our friendly cosmonaut will do.
The buyout at the very least gives the Flyers a real opportunity to examine the worth of his contract as it relates to his play on the ice. So far this season, he has made very little case for buying him out.
Last years nightmare still lingers however. I like the guy but wouldnt be locked on to his ass just because... As far as I am concerned he has the remainder of this season and next to allow management to decide whether to keep him. |

Should have a very good read on what you have in Bryzgalov by that point. |

For sure.
The way he has responded this season has been pretty damn good. You would figure if the team improves the D and another year of experience for the young kids, would have a positive effect next season.
I just cant put any trust into the guy personally. Not after last season. Maybe its a personal thing, but I think that is what has many fans torn. |

If I have to go there, I go. I'm don't worry about it. I don't bring my wife there, or any of my nieces or nephews.
The streets of Beirut are safer. |

On the Devils broadcast they are referring to Loktionov, as Andrei the Giant.
(frank)ing Lamoriello robbed the Kings. |

A bigger question being why you would willingly watch a Devils game |
