Ex... Find a couple docs that will clear him to play... Have him show up to camp ready... Buy him out.
Briere needs to be replaced? We can't find a line for him as is. That's $6.5 million right there. - moylander
No doctor would do that and you know it.
I do wonder though how these tests go... I mean he doesnt ever have to lace up and skate to get medical clearance, right? He just has to pass multiple baseline tests? If that is indeed the case that could happen. I won't write it off completely. But right now I'd say the odds of Matt Read rocking the Staples Center are a lot higher. |

It breaks my heart, I'm a big Danny B fan, but I think I agree. - BulliesPhan87
I love Danny, too...but basically, you're looking at a logjam and rather than needing to sacrifice the young... |

It would be fantastic if he would allow us to trade him. I'll even let him select a list of teams. |

I'll put it as plainly as I can. Any player you remove. Whether by trade, buyout, etc, needs to be replaced. You earmarked Timonen's money to re-sign 3 young players. You need to find another defenseman to replace Timonen. Which you said that was what the buyouts were for. Well you still have to replace the players you buyout.
Do you think a legitimate Doctor will clear a player such as Pronger to play, even if he medically shouldn't be cleared to play? What are they going to pay the Doctors off? Does Pronger have any say in this?

I'm not sold that he'd be as strongly about not waiving as we have been led to believe. Obviously playing in Germany wasn't that big of an issue. |

If they're low enough in the standings at the deadline I think Homer may try to get him to. Personally, I don't think we'll be quite that far out of it though. |

It certainly is possible that at some point Pronger could be deemed healthy and at least medically capable of playing Hockey.

This is a pretty serious accusation to honestly levy against the Flyers, that they'd do this. I mean, I get they they'll go to all means to circumvent the cap in terms of doing things like frontloading contracts, but this literally means criminal behavior. There's 0% chance the organization would take such a risk. |

Yeah, I could see that happening... I'm sure Homer has looked into it solely for buy out purposes. |

Ha ha.... Sports docs legitimate? That's funny. How many injured players get sent back out on the ice after a cortisone shot? You act like I'm guaranteeing a pronger buyout.... I just think its possible.
I have danny on the 3rd line as is.... I don't need $6.5 million to replace a 3rd line player. There's your fallacy. I can use $1 million on a call up and the other $5.5 towards a kimmo replacement.

So in review... Read is great not a "luxury" and bernier is "just an inexperienced backup goalie" yet l.a. Wouldn't accept trade of read and a 2nd round pick for bernier??? Hmmm... That's fishy even for hockeybuzz thinking. |

Do you honestly think that giving a player a cortisone shot in a sore joint is the same thing as giving a false diagnosis to a player with a serious brain injury, so a pro sports team can put itself in a better financial situation in a Cap environment? And as far as I know, cortisone shots are a legitimate Medical treatment. And isn't fraudulent.
If you think you can replace a top player with a call up, then I guess you're right.

Nobody has stated that Read is great. And Bernier is an inexperienced backup.
