Yep I'm a moron... Sooo coots a 3rd line center on THIS team( with Laughton as a replacement if coots is traded) is more valuable to THIS team than trading him for a #1 dman (which we don't have and don't have coming from the minors) yep I'm a moron - SMS4016
The flaw is thinking that Couturier will always be a 3rd Center.
Name the #1 D man that you're trading Couturier for?

Sorry, but willingly including Gervais in your top 9 is the death knell for any chance at credibility this roster might have had. Use some of that cap space and keep Mezzy over Brunover. - BringBack25
The point is not gervais... He would actually be a fa and not on the team.... That spot would probably be an ahl guy like kessel, Gus, lauridsen, etc or an old timer like homer likes to acquire... either way less than $1 million. That's why gervais is on there.... I'm only factoring what the cap space will beonce the flyers use kimmos money to pay g, schenn, coots. |

Bryz isn't getting bought out this offseason (if ever) and we aren't getting Bernier. Face it SMS. - moylander
Lol. Probably true. There are other players though. |

Couturier will be 2nd line Center with Schenn at the wing. Laughton is the 3rd line Center. At least that's what the gameplan has been. |

The only problem is that Timonen is still on there. And you didn't use the money to pay the players in the future.
Plus having MAB and Gervais on the defense. |

Couturier is playing elite level defense right now on a team that has serious issues playing team defense. I'd call that pretty valuable.
You expect to replace a guy playing Selke trophy level defense, with a rookie that has played 5 NHL games?
I'm also not against trading Couturier-or anyone else-in the right deal. The problem is, the deals you suggest are illogical for numerous reasons.

Where are the raises to all the players you are talking about? It's incomplete. - MJL
I left kimmo on there to count the $6 million for G (figure $6.75), Schenn (figure $4.25) and Coots ($3.5 mil).
That leaves over $12 million for read's raise, kimmos replacement, and mez replacement. Right? |

Might as well not waste a buy out on Meszaros, not going to get a replacement as good for less $$ |

Yeah, I'm also not keen on buying him out without first having a replacement. Just another way the lack of organizational depth at D bites you in the butt. If you strike out in FA the oft concussed Bourdon is a top 4 D man on your team. |

Are you turning off the games when schenn is on the ice? He's our #2. Hey I really like coots but schenn I like more. Coots can be #2 maybe #1 on other teams but not on THIS team. Not saying it would happen but I'd even overpay for pietreangelo like coots read two #1. My point is let's get that f k er and not have to worry about it. A package with coots and picks I'm sure can get a #1 dman. Oh update end of 2nd bernier still with the shutout going |

So, you know we can't tell these things when you put one players name and $$ in there and you really mean someone else, right?
On second thought, this is brilliance. You can't lose. Your answer to any question is simply "I only have that player as a placeholder for a much better, younger player at exactly the same amount".
well played, sir. well played. |

Naw... Bought him out because he is a free agent when g, schenn, coots start their new contracts. I used a buyout just to show remaining cash not because I suggest they buy him out. I hope they reup him for $4 million and we have basically $9 million to resign read and kimmos replacement.

Get that f k er meaning #1 dman not meaning pietreangelo because I don't we could. But homer can figure it out |

I cobbled one together for next year, where all I did was re-sign Gagne, Wellwood, Rinaldo and Gustafsson. There was a need for a back-up goalie and a 13th forward, but I had $6.6mm+ to fill those holes and make other changes.
Don't forget, the cap will rise again after next season. It's based on revenues, and based on the numbers the NHL is on pace to make $2.7 Billion this year, which is pretty much 2/3rds of the revenues from last year(in just over half as many games) which pushed the cap to $70mm.
If the NHL has the same revenues next season, the cap could be in the $74mm range when it's time to re-sign Giroux, Couturier, Schenn and Read. |

What's illogical is you posting your selke level playing no offense producing always will be 3rd line center on THIS team is more impoRtant than a #1 dman. What would you rather have? Coots or a #1 dman? |

Just admit you're wrong, no way you're winning this argument. Coots is trade bait. Probably get a 6th and a 7th for him if he's moved before his value drops even more. Getting this done prior to Thursday would be ideal.
Think of the future! |

So we are going to turn schenn into briere? And if thats the an all along why is briere plaing wing on schenns line? Why is schenn not on the winG and briere at center? |
