I am impressed, for the most part, with their play over the last stretch of games. The special teams has really come to gether after a dreadful start to the season.
Coming into the season i expected more downs then ups. They weathered the strom of a brutal early schedule and now need to take advantage of the next few weeks. - ggunky
Not sure what has been so impressive about their recent stretch of games. Winnipeg self destructed with penalties, and the Flyers PP was good and won the game. They got whooped by Toronto. Beat a disinterested Washington team. And the Flyers were lousy against Ottawa. came out slow again, played lousy in their own end. If the Flyers were playing a more talented team in that game, it would've been over in the first period.
This team needs a lot of work in a lot of areas.

Awesome. How did u end up with a Pittsburgh fan as a wife. Let me guess, she thinks Cindy is cute. Lol - Hextall271
too busy going from giroux to timonen to giroux to timonen to giroux to timonen to giroux to blocked shot, mishandled puck, blocked pass. - hammarby31
Far too predictable in moving the puck to Giroux on the half wall. If they want to jump that play, move the puck through Voracek and make them pay on the other side of the ice. Set Giroux up on the off side for a one timer.

She actually was born in Somers Point, but was raised in Pittsburgh where her family's from. She's been a Pens/Steelers fan for life, so at least she isn't a front-runner who only started caring recently. At least she cheers for the Flyers at every other game, and I've turned her into a Phillies fan.

i agree. while it's been effective in spurts, it's predictable, and they still overplay their hand. keep it simple, but get guys moving - that's what opens up seams in the pk unit - and get the gddamn puck to the net. too much perimeter play from the half-wall to the point.
Asking NHL discipline to be consistent is sort of like asking Nickelback to create good music. It simply isn't possible.
As soon as an incident happens, the phone calls start. The owner will call to say you can't suspend him, he's my meal ticket. Guys who are friends with Shanahan and Campbell who have affiliation with the guy facing a suspension will badger them for leniency. The NHL still ridiculously feels that no injury should equal fewer games, rather than using the more solid logic that an injury caused should add more games to a base suspension.
Take Kaleta. I think his shove to Richards last night should be 5 games, based on past history and dangerous nature of the play. The fact that Richards isn't hurt shouldn't reduce that 5 games to 3. It should be that Kaleta gets 5 games, and then if Richards is hurt, he gets an additional 2 added on.
The bottom line is, an Alfredsson, Neal, Malkin or Ovechkin gets more leeway than a third liner. - Jsaquella
So true.
The fact the person in charge of discipline is a recently retired player who still has former teammates playing is a joke to begin with!

I've had better fights in men's league - nastyflyergirl
ditto, but in youth hockey. drilled a guy right under his chin with my blocker in a bench brawl. we were playing staten island...bunch of dirty (frank)s. just like the kids from jersey city, and ironbound (newark).

Sorry, MJL.
I was speaking of the win column. I stated somewhere in this thread that I expected more downs then ups from the Flyers this season. Soooo, the impressed part is the fact that they are winning more then they are losing.
I know they have been sloppy. I know they have been ugly at times. John also pointed out how they can't seem to put a team away, I totally agree.
Nowhere did I say I am impressed with there overall play or that they don't need work.
