in reality phoenix won't trade oel
oel is the guy who makes trading yandle possible
and couts for yandle is dumb, and they'd probably want couts + for yandle anyway

I don't meet with people who violate the hockeybuzz code of conduct, so I am afraid you will never get that chance.

In Principle too!
Holmgren is a champ at drafting good forwards and flipping them for more.
Flyers have no track record with doing the same with dmen. - phillydentist
The way I see it, what's the difference between drafting 2 good forwards and trading 1 for a good dman and drafting 1 good forward and 1 good dman? Obviously, this is a very basic level but you get the picture. |

This is a scary reality.
And it has cost the Flyers a ton of money if you think about it, in terms of free agency dollars. A good businessman (and we can all agree Ed Snider is a good businessman) would put resources into developing good defensemen to keep these costs down. - johndewar
The problem in this regard is simple. To develop defensemen, patience is required. The Flyers lack this, especially with higher draft picks. They have always been a team that builds the defense with an eye towards loading up on known quantities than unknowns.

8 years is the maximum length, 10% of the cap remains the maximum salary. There isn't any strict guideline on maximum cap hit, though |

It's hard to measure how well they do drafting defensemen too because they never do in the 1st round. Recently, they've drafted Pitkanen and Sbisa in the 1st round and both guys were two of the better dman drafted around them so there's that. Obviously, both guys left here on different terms. |

It's not just a lack of patience though. If it were, we would see some Flyers drafted dmen blossom into #1D's on other teams. There seems to be some fundamental flaw in the scouting of young dmen in the organization. |

I think leia negotiated jabba down to 35,000. Cheap by today's standards but it was the early 80's. |

With Gus playing like he has since his return, Meszaros threatening to play soon and Kimmo signed for at least one more year, I do not think now is the time to panic and trade Coots, B. Schenn, Read or any of our forward youth.
If it's a good deal fine. But once Mes comes back our D lineup looks like one of the better ones in the league. We don't have the room for a D stud, and Gus has more than earned his ice time.

Boba Fett was set to hit free agency, until his tragic career ending... um, injury. He would've gotten a boatload. |

I think it's more about replacing Timonen after next year than anything else. |
