Actually is doesn't work both ways. Who on that list is a big two way center taken after the 1st round, let alone top 10 picks (Carter and Kopitar were drafted at 11 so not quite top 10) Getzlaf is the latest one at 19 in a ridiculously loaded draft. Bergeron is bigger than I thought at 6-2 so you could also throw him in there as one guy (2003 was a crazy draft). Those other guys are all around 5-11. I didn't say you could find good forwards later in the draft, I said big skilled center like Couturier typically go top 10.
Look at the stats this year. Top 20 scoring defensemen: 6 1st rounders out of 20. Top 20 scoring centers: 17 in the 1st rd out of 20: 14 of those 17 were in the top 10 picks with Kopitar(11), Getzlaf(19), and Koivu (21) the others. - psuhockey
My point is that you can get BETTER player than Couturier in the top 10.
I get what you're saying, but the guys you listed were exceptions to the rule. For every Shea Weber drafted in the 2nd round there's a Mike Egener, Tim Ramholt, Matt Smaby, Ivan Baranka, John Doherty, Michal Barinka and David Liffiton.
Besides, the Flyers have Laughton coming up through the ranks as a shutdown center and Schenn can be a legit #2 (might already be) so Couturier becomes more expendable. It's not like the Flyers are thin on center and will be getting thinner. It would be a need for a need, like JVR for Schenn but on a larger scale. I'm not saying it should happen, but that I'm open to it. |

He and Bruce Willis should do a new action movie. I've got the perfect title: "Phoning It In" |

I still don't see Laughton "replacing" Couturier. He'll likely be a very capable defensive player, but he's not Couturier in that regard.
In fact if Couturier were to be traded, I'd look at adding a veteran on a one or two year deal and allow Laughton to be brought in like Couturier was himself, as a 4th liner. |

Pacemakers also cost over $10,000 but the selection of apps is much worse. |
