I think it's more about replacing Timonen after next year than anything else. - NickTheKid87
I agree, and if something presents itself fine. But I'd rather keep Coots and give Meszaros a shot at our top spot, than to start panicking now. Promote from within, that's how most top Defensmen get the gig. Byfuglien, Letang, Wisnewski, Beauchemin, etc they all moved up. Problem is our best candidate has had a rash of injuries and hasn't had the opportunity to cement his role.
Actually, that's not really true. I like Star Wars, because I like Harrison Ford. I prefer Indiana Jones to Star Wars, though...and the 4th movie in that series didn;t happen...GOT IT?
getting that plyr would be one of the building blocks to be a real cup threat - isaiah520
The thing that is making me more open to moving Couts for the right price is that he and Schenn can't both be #2 centers. If Schenn can play wing as effectively as he can play center, then I'd want to keep Couts and Schenn and put them on the 2nd line. However, if Schenn can't adapt to wing, then you've got a log jam again. They'd be better off trading Couturier for a #1 dman than letting him go to waste by not being in the top 6.

Why can't Couturier stay as a #3 center. He is still getting a lot of minutes and he will be able to produce. One of Mike Richards best years was between Hartnell and Downey as a shutdown guy and he was a point per game player that year.

Decades ago, Lucas' original plan was for a 9 part story line. They were planned to come out, pretty much like they have, with parts 4-6 first, then the prequels, then the last three were to be the coda for the Luke and Leia generation and what their off spring does.
Perhaps Lucas ran out of gas, or simply decided that the criticism-valid, IMO, of the prequels took his heart out of it a little. - Jsaquella
I personally liked the story lines for the most part but I thought most of the acting was terrible.
I can't explain it and to answer your question, no... - JoeRussomanno
I don't see the Couturier thing myself. Not that I'm ready to trade him or I think he's peaked or anything but sometimes I read what people post here and I try to find this amazing young player the Flyers have out there and I just have a difficult time finding him at this point.

The acting was bad, and some of the side characters were so badly done...Jar Jar gets 10 times the amount of screen time that Darth Maul got. - Jsaquella
Jar Jar absolutely made me want to blow my brains out

The offense has not come yet, but defensively, by just about every advanced metric there is, Couturier is playing at elite levels.
