This was the Pronger deal: Traded to Philadelphia by Anaheim with Ryan Dingle for Joffrey Lupul, Luca Sbisa, Philadelphia's 1st round choices in 2009 (later traded to Columbus - Columbus selected John Moore) and 2010 (Emerson Etem) Entry Drafts and future considerations, June 26, 2009.
That's less than B. Schenn + Couturier from a personnel standpoint.
As for Rundblad and Gormley, I'm not saying trade Couturier for one of them because I wouldn't. I would only trade him to PHX in a deal for OEL. I brought up Rundblad, Gormley and Yandle to show that they are in need of a high potential forward and not a talented young defenseman. - NickTheKid87
Pronger was 34 years old, going to be 35 years old at the time. That is past his prime and the cost was still 2 1sts and 2 1st round players.
I know I am in the minority, but I don't see the Flyers as a great defensemen away from the cup. Even if they were, moving Couturier plus takes them a step back. I think the best course of action is to invest in the draft and undrafted free agents. Until those players are ready, band aid in free agency. Timonen, Coburn, Grossman, Schenn, and Mezzaros is not a bad top 5 to live with this year and next.
The Flyers can send half of the salary of the players they trade for Weber, they can't cut Nashville a check for half of that $13mm
So say the Flyers traded Couturier, Coburn and 2 1st rounder for Weber. They can can assume around $3mm, because those are the contracts they traded away. - Jsaquella
This. Nashville has now cut down the amount they paid for 1 season from $26M to $22M-$23M.
Also, I was at the Nashville-Dallas game and spoke to Paul McCann. He said management is furious with the Flyers for the offer sheet, so I doubt they'd be happy to trade him to the Flyers.

I like the d corps they have as well but when you have a surplus at one spot, it's never a bad idea to at least consider trading for a young, talented defenseman, of which they lack. Timonen might be done after next year and they will NEED to replace him one way or another. Coburn, Grossmann, Schenn or Meszaros can't do what he does.

That's another factor. I'd bet if they Preds trade Weber, they'd much rather send him to Pittsburgh, New York or New Jersey long before the Flyers
Panaccio says they're not doing line rushes at morning skate. He was told Knuble was in, so it may be that Wellwood was recalled to have an extra body on the trip.
