It's frustrating when they lose, especially when they pissed away a game they could have won had they simply avoided dumb mistakes.
It's hard to sustain enthusiasm for dumb, uninspired play - Jsaquella
Exactly. As you did well to point out, they're getting burned on bad line changes WAY too often. They take a frustrating amount of stupid penalties, if I see one more too many men bench minor I'll... well, I'll probably continue to flat line emotionally.
I think the team that ends up trading for him (if he's traded) will do so with the plan of re-signing him and I think they'd do everything in their power to make it happen. This is why I see him heading to a big market and not a small one. - NickTheKid87
And if they cant? I dont trade for him unless i know 100% that i have him locked.
I would like to go the route of getting Rundblad or another young dman like him. We already have a good young core of forwards so might as well try to add a young dman as well. - NickTheKid87
Yep. If the prices remain too high for a more proven guy, a roll of the dice on a kid like Rundblad might be the best option.

I'll flare up and get pissed for fifteen minutes, then settle down in to my more optimistic mode.
I'd be fine with Yandle the player. It's the reported cost that makes him unattractive.
He's not a real number one guy. He's a very good offensive defenseman, but he's not a great two way guy. He'd absolutely help in some areas, though. Trouble is, Phoenix seems to want the kind of return that a stud defenseman would get. - Jsaquella
Exactly, that's my issue. He's not an elite D at all, not even in a stretch. Sure, he'd help us in some aread, but I worry he'd just complicate the issues here. And in all honesty, I do like what I've seen from Gus aside from his giveaways, he is extremely mobile and just needs to gain some confidence in his offensive game. I think he could be a steal for us.

Me Neither or at least I wouldn't give up a ton for him. I don't want him at all via trade but I think there will be a lot of suitors even if he doesn't say he'll re-sign or not. Hence why it would scare me if the Flyers got involved. However, they didn't bite on Nash or Ryan so I hope that trend continues.

It might take a year or two for the team to grow to it's full potential by going with players like Rundblad but I am content with waiting. However, I can't say the same for about 90% of the fan base.
As an aside, a lot of people complain that the Flyers don't grow any defensemen themselves and end up trading for/signing them. I noticed that the Rangers three big guns offensively (Richards, Nash and Gaborik) were either traded for or bought. Sort of the reverse of the Flyers.

I'm content with the waiting, too. I also feel that they can be a very competitive team while the young guys improve.

I think that the view of some is, they'd rather be drafting and developing the defensemen, rather than the forwards

I understand your point but I would rather have their scenario, ie, drafting a franchise goalie and good dmen and signing expensive forwards than the Flyers way of signing expensive goalie and dmen.

I get that but I mean what's the difference between developing 2 forwards then trading 1 for a dman and developing a forward and a dman? - NickTheKid87
That's what they did with JVR and Schenn. We gave them a top line winger for a 2nd pair dman.
