#Flyers have Pronger, Walker, Mez and Shelley on LTIR. They have $8.9M in cap space, which will be reduced to $4.9M when Mez returns.

Wow. I know Sam is an idiot, but Jesus.

- Jsaquella

C'mon, Jsaq, you shouldn't expect him to use exact terms, nor to understand how the cap actually works. He's a beat writer, it's not like he's supposed to understand the things he writes about.

Now, what stupid thing can we goad Bryzgalov into saying next?

In fairness they do have more Stanley Cups than times that they intentionally tanked in order to lock up the number one pick. They only did that once.

Okay, the longer I watch that, the funnier it gets.

(In standard board fashion, I'm sure it will get beaten into the ground in short order and I'll soon hate it.)

I deleted the post, because something may be up...Capgeek retweeted that, and I'm waiting to see if something is afoot.

Do the Flyers even give pronger updates?
- nbartley9

Pronger's set to do some sort of big interview for TSN (it's TSN, right?), if you're sincerely interested. And if you're just asking to (frank) with us, then

The Mario Lemieux Conspiracy... The league gave the team Crosby as way to build back up and give Mario the money they owed him, which was millions and millions.

Pittsburgh was going to go under NO QUESTION if they didn't get Crosby, so of course the league helps them out and gives them the best prospect in years.

#Rangers gathering medical info 2day regarding Marc Staal but early indications r his eye injury isn't career threatening. Out indefinitely

Good news for Staal's future, not so good for the Rangers short term prospects

I thought Sportsnet was TSN. Too many channels/news providers, got my head spinning.

So Sam just told me that Meszy did indeed suffer a shoulder dislocation... This whole time I was thinking just a deltoid tear and a AC separation

Pronger and Walker are on LTIR, it was done at the same time that Hartnell came off. The Flyers have a shade under $9mm in LTIR relief.

Haha, it's all good. In Canada we have TSN (our version of ESPN, and partially owned by ESPN), Sportsnet, and The Score.

TSN is ESPN, they look the same and have all the same colors and broadcast set-ups.

The sad thing is, I believe he's over thinking again and expecting the defensive mistake to result in a rebound goal or feeling he has to cheat to prevent a goal from blown coverage.

If you look at the second goal, even if he stones Callahan, the nearest player is Gaborik, with a point blank chance.

- Jsaquella

This is another reason why I'd like them to shift to a more defense first system. He was huge in Phoenix that way and the Flyers have a much better roster than the Yotes ever did.

In 2009-10, Phoenix's top forwards were Doan, Vrbata, Hanzal, Prucha, Lombardi, Fiddler, Pyatt, Winnik, Korpikoski, Lang, Mueller and Upshall. There D had Aucoin, Yandle, Michalek, Jovanovski, Lepisto and Vandermeer.

I think it would work and be very helpful. At the very least the kids would be forced to learn defensive responsibility and better puck support

I mean if you're going to invest 9 years and $51 million in anything you might as well give that investment the best possible conditions to succeed.

Here's the deal on last night's game in my opinion. Going into the 3rd period, the score was tied 2-2. Flyers certainly haven't played a perfect game up until that point. But the game is certainly up for grabs. There is no doubt in my mind, that the Coach told the Flyers in the intermission, that they need to ramp up the aggressivenes in the 3rd period, due to not generating enough offensive chances in the 2nd period. From the very beginning of the period, Timonen is in deep leading to a scoring chance the other way. Gustafsson is in deep attacking the puck, leading to a goal the other way. On the 2nd Nash goal, all 3 forwards are below the puck in the offensive zone, with no chance to get the puck. With the defense changing behind it. With no forward high, and nothing but free ice for the Rangers from their zone to the Flyers net. Why are the Flyers players making these aggressive ill timed moves? Because they're told to do so. Because that's how the Coach wants them to play. Be aggressive and gamble on the offensive side of the puck.
The Rangers were content to stick to their game plan, and wait for the inevitable. Which is a Flyers breakdown. Whether it's a turnover, bad pinch, lack of coverage, whatever. And that's the game. Laviolette just can't sit back and play solid Hockey and wait for a chance. you're on the road. Go into OT, and play 4 on 4. Where the team's offensive talent has a much better chance of beating the Ranger tight defense. Get atleast a point on the road, and ake your chanced for the 2nd point. That should have been the mindset of the team. Not to come out and gamble in the 3rd.
