If.... IF... they make a coaching change, I think Paddock would be named interim coach and then a different coach would take over next year.
- bmeltzer

I'd be surprised if they do anything before Sunday. But if they only manage 2 or 3 points out of these 4 games(NYR, PIT, BOS & BUF), I think it's possible.

When they limit the mistakes, they are a playoff team. When they don't...well games like tonight happen
- Jsaquella

True but they boast an extremely deep forward group and besides Hartnell, the core group are all in their early-mid twenties.

Defense looks a little thin, with the exception of Grossman having a solid season.

Just an observation, but I think the Flyers can be dangerous, especially if they beef up the blue line.

AS USUAL, Coburn skating around like he doesn't know where he needs to be, losing pucks along the boards, and flat out just sucking. So tired of his act. How many times in 1 game can a player fan on a pass, clearing attempt, etc.

Coburn was one of the Flyers better D-men tonight, I thought (though he's become a popular whipping boy). Gustafsson and Gervais were the weakest links tonight.

Gustafsson hasn't looked good in a week, Gervais is just flat out weak, but Coburn picks the WORST time to turn over the puck or take stupid penalties (ie. check the Rangers first goal as he fanned on a clearing attempt on his stick) I watched him on more that one shift tonight where he was either covering the high slot (or something) and just skating around looking at other guys and wondering where he should be. If this is any indication of how he's going to play without Grossman (whom actual covers 90% of Coburn's mistakes) maybe we should be a seller on him.

Gus to me hasn't looked as sharp as I expected him to be. What do you think his ceiling is?

Also, I think it's a bad move to make a coaching change halfway through an abbreviated season. Ride it out, then make any necessary coaching changes over the summer.

They have been trying-offered $200mm in contracts to Weber and Suter in the summer, have been scouting the rest of the league like mad.

Coburn's failed clear led directly to the first goal. Instead of just chipping it out he tried to do more with it, ran out of time, and turned it over. He made a few other bad passes, but that's about all I can say about his game. I definitely agree that Gus and Gervais were worse by a lot.

Personally, I think Holmgren needs to go first. He should have gotten Lavi some defensive help after last season. Epic fail, as far as that goes. The defense is actually worse this year.

I'd Like to ask flyers fan if they are at all familiar with Aaron Volpatti and if you think Sestito is a good Replacement for him. I will say I like him thus far. But can he chip in from time to time? Or is he strictly fists?

as long as he plays w/ some control, he can be an asset and his skill set is above avg for his type of plyr. you would swear sometimes that he takes stupid pills, however.

Hey bill, I'm really curious if you have any info if flyers try to force players to wear shields? This is ridiculous with The pucks to the face! I know they can't make them as per the CBa juSt wondering if they try to force it?

Or force other GM's to let us poach their players. If Holmgren were able to sign either Suter or Weber we'd all be saying what a great job he did to help the D. Turns out Suter never wanted to come here and Nashville was forced to match offer sheet.

The only fault, if any, is Holmgren took too long to make any decisions. But remember Suter/Parise held everyone waiting. That delay made Carle's decision to leave that much easier
