I look at the league points rankings along with goals for and goals against and I still cant understand how a deal for Weber couldn't be worked out let alone how Nashville didn't just take the picks and run. Last in the league in goals for... again.
Trying to come up with ways we address the D man issue in the offseason without giving away too much offense and I just don't see it. The FA crop of D men is terrible. Just terrible. And we probably won't be bad enough get a lottery pick.
That leaves trades. Hopefully Briere can be moved for a couple picks. I was saying the same about Kimmo before he got the extension, but I doubt anyone has much interest in him now. Getting Perry in here would be huge as it would make one of our other wingers more expendable to address the D but I cant just assume he's coming here.
No true #1 might be the new "we'll never have a goalie" for the next few years.
I'm thinking more and more that Lavy's days are over. Can't keep making the rags look like the 80's oilers its (frank)ing disgusting. - JoeRussomanno
He just hasn't done the job this year. They are a mess on the ice. Getting by on strictly talent. I don't like to call for a Coach to be removed. In fact I hate it. But I don't see any other explanation. This team should be much better then it is. Problems are not being corrected. Same issues over and over. And it's there regardless of whether they win or lose.

Despite the frustrations of the season I see a young growing core. If all we get out of this season is the realization that Voracek has arrived and cemented our top line, and B Schenn can handle second line duties. Mission accomplished in my eyes. I think we can see that on the horizon. I don't think Perry is what we need. Not on the contract he will get. It is a shame the UFA D market is atrocious. But this team desperately needs another young dman. I don't know how we get it.
I think we can get two teams to battle for Briere's services at the deadline. We should be able to get a 2nd rounder.

Agreed. Despite what Habs fans say on here I could easily Montreal drooling over him at the deadline. The nice thing about them is they have three 2nd's. One is Calgary's.

Well. he'd still have to waive his NMC to go there. Part of the reason they got next to nothing for Gagne was because he wasn't willing to waive his clause for any old place.

I think he'll waive for a Cup run in Montreal. The NMC thing is a little overblown. Teams that will trade for him are going to be on a Cup run. No one wants to stay in a place where they're not wanted. I think the Flyers will be right there at the deadline so this is all moot IMO.

He specifically turned down Montreal when he signed the contract, and honestly, Boston has a better shot than the Habs to make a serious run.
