Only 6 games away from breaking the record. I don't think it's technically breaking it because there are different rules now, never in a million years did I think that record would even come close to being broken, I would be shocked now if they don't break it. - PLindbergh31
They don't even face a "tough" opponent until the 20th of March, when they get the Ducks. Before that they have Colorado, Edmonton, Columbus, Dallas & Colorado again. |

Their next six games are against garbage teams. They have a legit shot at breaking this record. - stveshdy
They lose to the Avs on Friday.
Book it. |

The odds of none of those 6 making it, are virtually zero. - PLindbergh31
i think i'm going with anaheim as my western conference team. wouldn't mind seeing teemu get another cup. they have a legit shot. as for the east...hard to imagine another team from my list not being there...but montreal could do it based on how they're playing, and price is solid. hell, i wouldn't mind seeing toronto get there. they haven't been in the SCF since expansion - and that just boggles my mind. |

Well game 6 is in Anaheim. That just about the toughest game they have on their schedule. |

I think Edmonton is the team that gets them on the sneaky. |

2 games in Colorado could be tricky. I wonder if the Flyers players are protective of that record like those miserable Dolphins wieners with popping the champagne corks. |

Heard rumors that he might never be able to play again. This is two years in a row where he's been very solid.
Sign him in the offseason. - stveshdy
the necrosis will immediately re-emerge and the flyers will sign tommy soderstrom to back up. |

if the flyers had won the cup that year (cough, stickle, cough), they probably would be. given that they were robbed, i doubt it. the record means virtually nothing. |

Ray Emery is playing like Patrick Roy.
He was suppose to be the answer for us. I liked Emery but that injury ruined everything. |

Yeah. If you fail to win a Championship it doesn't mean much.
This Blackhawks team isn't a pimple on the ass of the 72-10 Bulls, or the 85' Bears. |

Here's the big difference as I see it. A team like Chicago, reads and reacts. They are aggressive on the puck and attack on the fore check when it is there. And if they can't get in on the puck they regroup and come at you with secondary pressure at 2/3rds ice, or with neutral zone pressure. They get into the passing lanes and cut the play off. Good teams pressure the puck all over the ice and make you fight for every inch. There are layers to a quality team's pressure and checking. They put themselves consistently on the right side of the puck. And they support the puck and their teammates all over the ice.
With the Flyers it's 2 men in regardless hard, with F3 in an equally aggressive posture. One pass beats them all. Such as a simple chip off the wall by Girardi sets Nash free. All 3 forwards were at or below the puck on the offensive side on the play. - MJL

It still stings to wonder what would have happened if Em didn't go down in 2010. |

Bitter old fools. Patriots had their record dead to rights, they just happened to run into a buzzsaw. |

he's been good, and lucky too. i don't see anything unbelievably spectacular from him though.
i disagree that he supposed to be the answer. the flyers signed him to a 1 year deal as a reclamation project when nobody else would touch him. it was low risk, high reward. he was good for the flyers before he got hurt, but i saw nothing that had me feeling like he was the answer. i thought potential.
and crawford? many people, pundits included, were saying the hawks needed a goalie if there were going to be a legit team. they stuck with both of them. we'll see if it matters in the end. |

one of the late 70s habs teams lost 8 games in an 80 game season. they won the cup that year.
what the hawks are doing is pretty remarkable, but give me a normal, 80+ game season that starts in october and play every team in the league. then we'll talk. |
