he's been good, and lucky too. i don't see anything unbelievably spectacular from him though.

i disagree that he supposed to be the answer. the flyers signed him to a 1 year deal as a reclamation project when nobody else would touch him. it was low risk, high reward. he was good for the flyers before he got hurt, but i saw nothing that had me feeling like he was the answer. i thought potential.

and crawford? many people, pundits included, were saying the hawks needed a goalie if there were going to be a legit team. they stuck with both of them. we'll see if it matters in the end.

My brother (Uncle Goalie) used to get ticked off at the genuflection-type saves Emery tried to make in 2009-10 -- that would slip in through the 5-hole.

Bitter old fools. Patriots had their record dead to rights, they just happened to run into a buzzsaw.

That season happened 4 years before I was born but nowadays that's all us Fins fans have to hang our hats on so I hope those old guys croak before it gets broken.

one of the late 70s habs teams lost 8 games in an 80 game season. they won the cup that year.

what the hawks are doing is pretty remarkable, but give me a normal, 80+ game season that starts in october and play every team in the league. then we'll talk.

21-0-3 is just ridiculous. Under any circumstance. Unreal.

Good news is that they are 1 year closer to their next Cup than last year.

That is true. Who knows maybe even a miracle this year. Any team that makes the playoffs has a chance.

They are peaking too early. Imagine an Eastern Conf Finals Bruins/Rags, and Western Finals of Hawks/Kings.

I will be watching the Golden Girls.

that type of save is known as the VHS technique - which means Vertical Horizontal Save...where the post leg is vertical, the other leg is down on the ice. just an FYI.

good lord, i might actually not watch either of those series, or the cup final. don't think i could handle it. for the record, i don't see the rangers anywhere near sniffing the ECF.

Executed properly, there should be no gap between the legs. I recall a couple goals squeaking through Emery then. *sigh*

Sadly it was better than the Culpepper, Harrington, Lemon, Feeley, Frerotte, etc. era.

I have a good feeling about the new kid though.

it's a newer technique and a bit challenging to execute both technically and knowing when to use it. goalie can be susceptible to putting rebounds into the slot off the weak side leg. there can be gaps. the angle can be too flat depending on the position of the puck. i don't recall that being an issue with emery - my memory of the first half the season is a bit fuzzy anyway.

I'm hoping for a Montreal/SJ SCF so I can watch it without being enraged by who wins.

Dallas vs. Ottawa for me or Jackets vs. Florida just so i can not give damn about who plays in it.

It was just part 1 today, 2 is tomorrow but it really was good.

The one person you don't consider when talking about how rough he's had it- his wife. I can't imagine what she went through with his condition on top of the 3 young kids.
