I didn't mean to imply that Callahan doesn't put out effort every night, but if scored against the rest of the league the way he scores against the Flyers....... - johndewar
He had 29 goals last season... I get the drift though |

If thats the case, you may as well give the job to Terry Murray, his style would be perfect for Bryz. Also Couturier and Schenn seemed to thrive under him with the Phantoms. - BiggE
I wouldn't be opposed to giving Terry Murray a shot. I don't think they'd be any better this year, having to adjust to a completely different system without a lot of practices, but next year it may pay dividends. |

I give Lavy about a 35% chance at being the head coach come June. We've already seen them add Paddock to the staff and Holmgren & Snider wanted to tighten up defensively but Lavy seemed to want them to stay out of it. There's been a lot of questionable coaching decisions as well, which leads me to believe Laviolette has become desperate to get the team going so he can keep his job. - NickTheKid87

If they were to go with TM.. you could pretty much say goodbye to Briere. |

I'm not so sure, if Grossmann is out for any length of time and Mez doesn't get back soon and play effectively, they are in serious trouble. Even more troubling is that Timonen has noticeably lost a step, just look at how many restraining penalties he has been taking, thats the proof.
If they can't keep ALL 5 of their top Dmen healthy, they will fall out of contention by the deadline and will most likely be sellers. - BiggE
I haven't wanted to admit it all year, but it was painfully obvious last night, and has been for some time now that Timonen is not even close to his former self. He gets beaten so often now, and I notice he hooks and holds like crazy, and it's been getting him into penalty trouble the past few games. |

Maybe signs that the team isn't buying what Laviolette is selling? I mean they already brought in Knuble to be a leadership guy. What does that say? |

I just can't understand how this team couldn't perform last night against a wounded Rangers team. They were the better rested team, etc.
This just magnifies the importance of Thursday's game. |

Just say no to terry Murray. Ride this season out. Find a good young up and coming coach ive never heard of in the offseason if this crap continues. I know this won't happen though flyers love retreads |

That should be the case, regardless of who the coach is. His cap hit doesn't justify the role he fills. |

Crosby has been red hot, Malkin is back... should make for either a super entertaining, or incredibly frustrating game. |

I know he signed an extension, but Timonen has a lot of pride. If this is the best he can do, I wouldn't be surprised if he retires after the season. Because he signed a 1 yr deal, the over 35 rule doesn't apply and the entire 6 million would come off next years cap if he does retire. |

Yeah Briere needs to go. He's not a difference maker anymore.

Agreed. People fail to realize that the players have to manage the game on-ice, and that yes, Lavi's system isn't well-suited for teams like the Rangers, but to me, the Flyers looked too flat at times last night, and I think get caught up in games where they're being tightly checked and contested. I think Lavi is part of the problem, but he cannot be blamed for all of this. |

Oh, I totally agree. Just saying that it would all but guarantee it with TM as coach. Imagine him trying to get Danny to back check 40% of the time. |

In Timonen's defense, he's been playing with a lower body injury since the Devils game on February 15th. Playing 20 minutes a night won't help it. |

We won't have a playoff run this year to re-justify his cap hit. |

Crosby hasn't torched the Flyers in awhile so I figure he's due. Wouldn't be shocked to see a 5 or 6 point night for him. |

Nothing justifies the role he fills. He has done nothing to help Schenn and Simmonds. I love Danny, but if teams are actually offering players for him like I keep hearing, why is he still here? |

I think the offers have probably sucked (i.e. a career AHLer or a 4th round pick). I think by the deadline they should try hard to deal him to get something for him because they gotta buy him out anyway. |

Murray is a good teaching coach and every player on the Kings gave him a ton of credit for his work last year. Pretty much to a man they said that the defensive system and teaching he did was a big reason they won the Stanley Cup.
Neither Murray or Paddock is Scotty Bowman, but both are good teaching coaches that will instill the habit of good two way play into young players. |

This has been going on forever, its why I feel a coaching change is necessary. I would give the job to Terry Murray. He may not be the guy to get you to a cup, but he is the perfect coach to teach a group of young forwards how to play responsibly in all areas of the ice. - BiggE
I agree.
As a forward don't you realize that your are leaving the D in no mans land? I thought the reason Paddock was brought in was to be the eye in the sky?!?!
Does he not see this and address it with the staff and players? If he is and Lavi doesn't change it then this falls on his lap.
Little adjustments like this would change the dynamic of the breakout, protect agains D zone turnovers on the breakout and better position the team if a D zone breakout turnover were to occur.
I am not a coach, but if i am seeing it you can't tell me the players and coaches arent.

Not only that, but Murray is a no BS coach. You dont wanna play his system.. you dont wanna work hard both ends of the ice... you dont play... |
