Very true...whistful thinking here. It's the scoring depth that I'd like to see improve a bit more. I'd love to see us add AT LEAST one more skill forward with size. - keaner17
I'd honestly like to see a GOOD, bruising Dman more than anything. Of course followed by a big, mean top six |

Like clock work. They can be up three goals and you can feel them letting loose of the reigns and you know it's coming. We all know this team and what it can and can't dowhether some of us accept it or not is another story. - Cptmjl
so says the guy who laughed at someones prediction of the isles winning 3-2 in OT... maybe not so predictable afterall |

That is the difference between a good player and a not so good player, talent only takes you so far. - Cptmjl
So true. And at this level, 90% of these kids have immense talent, it's all in how they're developed to use it. It's why we see kids like Tambelini (as useless as he was), who had great speed and a rocket wrist shot, never turn into an NHL player. He had the skillset, but simply never got the instinct/mental approach to make him a decent player. It's what makes me worry about someone like Nino and Kabanov. Both have elite skills but that certainly doens't make them a shoe-in. |

We need both desperately. Agree on the dman though. We need a true #1 guy. It changes the whole complection of that defense. |

Thursday night's game is going to tell you a lot about this team. This is the first time in a while they are playing the Rangers with something important on the line. The Rangers are coming into the Coliseum likely with no Staal and possibly no Richards. The Isles are coming off two straight wins and points in their last three. If they come out flat or get thumped, its a sign they aren't ready to compete with pressure. But if they win, I think it could propel them to bigger and better things. Its all about consistency. Keeping their compete level up and attacking, instead of sitting back and feeling the opponent out. - Jethro09
i dont disagree that a win against the rangers would be REALLY important...but lets fast forward to thursday night and lets say they win...then everyone will say, sure beating the rangers was great but we REALLY need to beat up on the weaker teams like the capitals.
the islanders will not win every game...we cant expect them to, but what we SHOULD be expecting is a complete effort. if they lose with 100% effort, so be it. |

If we managed to squeeze in the playoffs while the rags miss it, the NY media would go crazy. Maloney would quit HNL |

Here we go, read my other post until then stfu. The funny thing is I know you have no idea how condescending you come off. I don't need you to try to squeeze compliments for this team from me. You really are not that intelligent. Incredible how I can see that just from your posts on this site. |

I don't think anyone here would disagree with that...the question is...can they give that consistent effort. We haven't seen it yet. Each time we put two wins together, it almost seemingly gurantee's a complete meltdown game. |

exactly...gimme a complete 60 minute effort...at that point, winning or losing will depend on if the OTHER team has played for all 60 minutes. |

just read all the comments..
Prust: saw him drop the gloves with Lucic other night too. That kid is just unbelievable to have that kind of Ballz. He hung in there with him too and the team got a huge spark off it.
Martinek.. good for him. I am happy he got the goal and the props. That first goal where all the isles lost sight of the puck was unfortunate. I enjoyed watching Radek play last night. I also though OK finally had a decent game... dare I say it. He was hustling on both ends and did some solid things out there... He still doesn't hit anyone but I have let that hope go already. Speaking of Hitts... Colin McD was hitting everyone on the ice. It was nice to see... Casey is more fun to watch every game too. I even liked Big Fin last night. I like Ullstrom's game too last night. I hope they keep it up.
Reasoner still a rally killer. When he missed that one pass on an Odd man rush I was beyond annoyed. I will be happy to see him go. |
