Got me. Why couldn't the coach recognize he didn't have the defensemen to run his highwire attack system. He had a full summer and 6 months of lockout. He had that long to figure out how to beat the Rangers and Devils, but couldn't manage that, either.

But no, it's the heartless players, for sure.

People like to ignore that after the Cup run, when the Hurricanes start losing a lot of the veterans who helped them win it, Laviolette missed the playoffs three straight years.

We've seen the inability to adjust to the Devils and Rangers, yet we somehow expect the coach to adjust his system when he doesn't have ideal pieces to run it.

The one biggest thing I will say here it Lava needs to do better in terms of accountability. A guy like Briere or Talbot needed to have a long benching, a long time ago.

With all of the complaining about the coach, I see nothing being put on the players. At the very least this is 50/50, yet its far too easy to blame one guy.

IMO, the root of 90% of their issues is that lack of accountability.

Guys who make mistakes and float get rewarded with more ice time, guys who play their asses off get a seat.

YES! YES! YES! I was just about to say this.
I've always hated this about lava. People play like garbage, yet get more ice time, yet some players could have a 5 goal game, and sit in the pressbox for 5-6 games after that.

Briere is out on the rink with 1 minute left in the game. Just go away Peter, I had enough of your coaching abilities.
