First of all, I've been a Bryz supporter for the last year or so, after last February basically. I'm not saying that he's awful, but for the cap hit the Flyers are absorbing, he's not currently delivering. What I was implying is that he's getting paid to be a top-10 goalie int he league and, quality of shots faced included, he's not playing like it, so I'd rather that money go to resigning young players and try to get a young goalie who could hopefully develop into a star.
And no, I have no confidence in the defense either. I understand that it's the goalie's job to make the first save and the defense's job to clear it. As much as I like a lot of these players, some moves need to happen, and some tough decisions will have to be made by management.
Basically, I guess what I'm saying is that I have little to no confidence in the majority of this team. I can live with a season or 2 of growing pains if they win a Cup in the next decade. Snider probably can't, but I don't see any quick fix that will turn this team into a contender (including firing the coach). I'm fine with a tear down and a build around G/Coots/Schenn/Simmonds/Jake, trade some of the vets for picks/prospects, develop some semblance of a defense, take a shot on some promising goalie prospects, and maybe in 3-4 years you can contend. Right now, this team is in place to regress unless a drastic move is made (see: Flames, Calgary). - jmatchett
Ok, I get your meaning. I mistook your post for a garden-variety goalie blame post.
Not sure if you recall, but when Bryz was a name bandied about in the summer of 2011, I was against his signing. I support him now because he's my favorite team's goalie but I would have preferred sticking with Bob and a vet for a backup (my dream being trading for Nabokov from the Islanders). However, if they buy him out or trade him and use the cap space to bolster their team I'm all for it.
Your last paragraph I would agree with. I'm on board the "get an instructive coach in here pronto" movement because what they're going through now can affect next season. Righting the ship, as MJL said earlier, is the way to go. |

So what? Age and time served doesn't mean you've grown in knowledge of the game. If it did, Tim Panaccio would be a better writer than Bill but we all know that's not even remotely near being true. - Flyskippy

Skip, don't you think over playing Bryz has hurt?
I know he supposedly thrives on work, but mentally at times he seems fatigued.
Getting a back up they trust seems to be an important hole to fill. |

per twitter
Zolnierczyk has been ruled eligible by the AHL effective today. He would have to sit out the 2 games on any subsequent call-up to the NHL.
So an NHL suspension does not count in the AHL. I never knew that. |

They sucked last night and as Bill said are under.500 for a reason. Coach isn't adjusting and there's been serious overturn on the roster since Lavy took over but same old same old over and over. Lunch is over take care. |
